by GO! Kenya Team
We are honored to announce Edward Njugo as our GO! Ambassador of the month of March in Kenya.
Edward Njugo is a 48 years old family man with one son from Embu County. He attends ACK Kithunguri Parish in Embu County. Edward Njugo is a clergyman by profession. He is also a farmer.
He came for the Great Commandment Workshop held in June last year at ACK St Paul Cathedral Last year. After the workshop, he decided to increase the number of orphans supported to four.
Edward has provided for three orphans for two years, starting with his orphaned niece in form three at St. Teresa Kithimu. He supports all their basic needs, including paying for their education with his salary. The other orphan is at St. Paul Primary School in grade two. The other two are at St. Paul Primary School in class eight. He also pays their school fees and provides food items to the family.
What Edward says this about serving orphans, "I support more than three orphans when I harvest food from the farm and then donate to other orphans and vulnerable families in the community. The biggest challenge in this work is financial constraints. Often things become so hard that I fail to raise their school fees. I always pray to God to make a way. I also ask my son for financial assistance when I get stuck.” Edward explained. "Offering oneself to serve the orphans comes with more blessings from God. I pray that people start seeing service to orphans as serving Jesus Christ." Edward Concluded.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care. In 2022 we impacted 7,700 children in Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within our Home-based Care, Nutrition, Scholarship, & Church Mobilization Initiatives.
Through our Church Mobilization effort 1,000’s ministry leaders are going deep into their communities to care for orphan children. This is a beautiful picture of how our King wants to care for his children, and a great example of obedience for all of us.
Beyond the financial commitment of the workshops, this effort is to be indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting. Our objective is to engage local churches to expand our GO! network, mobilize the church body to serve orphaned children, and to advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel to others. Through these workshops we are:
Church Mobilization is our newest initiative launched in February 2022. We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops where we bring together multiple subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically. We track the impact of children served through this effort to justify continued investment.
We have co-hosted and facilitated twenty workshops in Asia, Kenya, and Zambia that have hosted a total of 3,611 ministry leaders. At the conclusion of these workshops, we have been honored to commission 2,209 GO! Ambassadors who have received the call to serve orphan children in their communities.
