WOTA Team Continues Church Mobilization

WOTA Team Continues Church Mobilization

June 8, 2023

by Scott Nordstrom

We have been impressed with the progress in Zambia with our Church Mobilization Initiative.

Pastor Barry Ilunga of WOTA was involved last year with our Initiative launch event in Kitwe as a facilitator, and has now taken up the mission of leading our Church Mobilization efforts in Zambia.

Pastors Barry and Kyembe Ilunga, have been instrumental in co-hosting two events already this year. The most recent event in Ndola, Zambia, was attended by 320 ministry leaders from the local area. The event was part of a Ndola City Ministers Platform effort, and the response was strong. At the conclusion of the event Pastor Barry and team commissioned 231 GO! Ambassadors to serve orphan children in their community.

Topics during the one-day workshop included unpacking the GO! vision for Church Mobilization, hearing what the scriptures say about serving orphan children, dealing with childhood trauma, a presentation of government policies for Child Protection in Zambia, exposure to an orphan child life experience, and a discuss around practical ways to serve children in Zambia.

Our GO! Ambassadors in Zambia began reporting at the start of the year and team has already impacted 1,000’s of orphan children.

Based on our launch event in October, I could see that the Church in Zambia was ready to walkout the scriptures in a new way. These ministry leaders were eager to serve others, and they have not disappointed.

There is power in the local church, and they know these children and are prepared to address their needs. I am so encouraged by our Ambassadors as they step out in faith to serve others in their communities.
