2023 Bridge of Hope -> Mission Accomplished

2023 Bridge of Hope -> Mission Accomplished

May 25, 2023

by Scott Nordstrom

I returned home on Monday, May 16th after twenty-two days in the field. It was an incredible experience with so much to share and so many things accomplished.

Much of my time in Kenya was dedicated to co-hosting five Great Commandment Workshops as part of our Church Mobilization Initiative, however, I did spend a number of days with our field partners in Kenya to learn more about what is being accomplished on the behalf of orphan children through our work together.

I will plan to post several of my experiences from our Bridge of Hope Mission, but wanted to highlight our Church Mobilization success in this post.

We co-hosted three workshops in Western Kenya with the Anglican Church of Kenya, one workshop in Mombasa at Bible Way Ministries, and our final event was held at Christ Is the Answer Ministries in Nairobi. Attendance at all of the events was encouraging and the response to the call to serve orphan children was overwhelming. A summary of our results follow:

Based on multiple Church Mobilization Launches since October, these workshops were six months in making. Isaiah and the GO! Kenya team did a great job pulling these events together to maximize the Kingdom impact moving forward. In Western Kenya, our team numbered five as we worked together on the three ACK events.

With 933 new GO! Ambassadors commissioned this month in Kenya, we are looking forward to hearing from the field regarding their success in serving children later this year. Based on the many conversations that I had with attendees, they are now thinking of brand-new ways in which they can serve in their communities. So many were able to see past the resources they believe that they lack, to consider how God might use them in a powerful way with what they already have in their hand!

Thanks to all who support our mission to serve orphan children and may God bless you in a special way.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care. In 2022 we impacted 7,700 children in Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within our Home-based Care, Nutrition, Scholarship, & Church Mobilization Initiatives.

Through our Church Mobilization effort 1,000’s of churches and individuals are going deep into their communities to care for orphan children. This is a beautiful picture of how our King wants to care for his children, and a great example of obedience for all of us.

Beyond the financial commitment of the workshops, this effort is to be indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting.  Our objective is to engage local churches to expand our GO! network, mobilize the church body to serve orphaned children, and to advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel to others.  Through these workshops we are:

Church Mobilization is our newest initiative launched in February 2022.  We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops where we bring together multiple subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically.  We track the impact of children served through this effort to justify continued investment.

As of this posting, we have co-hosted and facilitated twenty workshops in Asia, Kenya, and Zambia that have had 3,611 ministry leaders in attendance. At the conclusion of these workshops, we have been honored to commission 2,209 GO! Ambassadors who have received the call to serve orphan children in their communities.
