We are excited to announce Thomas Gituru as our GO! Ambassador for the month of February in Kenya.
Thomas Gituru is a family man 74 years old from Runyenjez in Embu County. He attends ACK Church Muchagori Parish. He has been serving the orphans for the last three years. He has been supporting the orphans in their way of life and education. Thomas did not give much during that period.
Thomas attended the Great Commandment Workshop in June 2023 at ACK St. Paul Cathedral Embu. He got the information from the community volunteer health workers who announced it in their local church.
“The GCW workshop training impacted my way of supporting orphans. (Before the workshop), I used to aid the orphans with as little as Kshs 100($1) that could not last them for long. I later decided to stand with two orphans from my community. Currently, they are both in Form 2 at Chamunda Secondary School. Their grandparents are unable to cater for their needs. Being a small-scale farmer, I harvest the farm produce and support their families with food or sell it to pay their school fees or buy stationaries. I also reach out to friends from the community who help me raise their school fees. I will have an event to raise funds for their school fees at our church in the coming month". Thomas explained.
"To spread the love of Jesus, I will continue doing it as long as I can. I pray that people will see the need to support orphans because orphans have no one to depend on. When we come together with little, we can impact their lives positively." He added.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care. In 2022 we impacted 7,700 children in Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within our Home-based Care, Nutrition, Scholarship, & Church Mobilization Initiatives.
Through our Church Mobilization effort 1,000’s of churches and individuals are going deep into their communities to care for orphan children. This is a beautiful picture of how our King wants to care for his children, and a great example of obedience for all of us.
Beyond the financial commitment of the workshops, this effort is to be indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting. Our objective is to engage local churches to expand our GO! network, mobilize the church body to serve orphaned children, and to advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel to others. Through these workshops we are:
Church Mobilization is our newest initiative launched in February 2022. We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops where we bring together multiple subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically. We track the impact of children served through this effort to justify continued investment.
As of May 11, 2023, we have co-hosted and facilitated nineteen workshops in Asia, Kenya, and Zambia that have hosted a total of 3,058 ministry leaders. At the conclusion of these workshops, we have been honored to commission 1,814 GO! Ambassadors who have received the call to serve orphan children in their communities.
