GO! | JOURNEY OF FAITH MISSION | Kenya, South Sudan, & Zambia
As I ramp-up preparation to depart to Africa in June for our Journey of Faith Mission, I can’t help but be concerned about what might transpire during our deployment. No, I am not referencing safety or illness as those things are mostly bigger items than I can control.
What I am most concerned about is the ‘Ask’. I am not writing here about the numerous emails and phone calls that I will make in an effort to raise the support needed for this mission. What I am referring to is what our King might Ask of us based on what we will see and experience in the field. If there is a situation where God’s Word is absent what shall we do? If the schools we visit are hopeless places absent of walls and a roof will we be moved? If the children we meet and interact with are missing out on love in their lives will we act?
Do you see where this is going…. well, this is my concern. The scriptures tell us if we know of a good that should be done and we don’t do it -it is sin. Sometimes ignorance is bliss, but we can’t avoid the very heartbeat of the Father to bless the Widow and the Orphan can we?
We have been serving with our partner Christ Mission to the World in South Sudan for over 3-years now. I have had the pleasure to meet Pastor Garang as he stayed with me in my home several years ago. There is great need in South Sudan, and while we are doing all that we can, we aren’t even scratching the surface. I am confident that God wants to step in and do amazing things for the Widows and Orphans of South Sudan, and he may want to use us to do it. Not because we are in a prime position with funds locked and loaded for such a mission, but because of a movement of people that are willing to be obedient to what the Father wants to accomplish through us.
I am conflicted as this mission grows nearer with each passing day knowing that an even greater objective could be hoisted upon us. Will we choose to accept an expansion of the mission to South Sudan if He ask us for even more? Join our mission for this June at Journey of Faith 2019.
Blessings, Scott
