Mackmore Update from Zambia

Global Orphan Relief Update – Mackmore In Zambia

I received this several days ago:  It’s been a hard day.  Mackmore had a bit of infection in both ears so they did not do the surgery.  They gave meds and rescheduled for May 23rd.  We check him in May 22nd.

We did do the blood work so we don’t have to come early for that part of it again.  They also did a hearing test.  The test proved he can hear!  The right ear is much better than the left, but he can hear.  After the surgery his hearing should be very close to normal.  I had lots of questions as to why he does not speak and why was he so afraid of the hearing aids?  The doctors reply is she has always felt he has a mental disability.  Mamma Mary has also told me he has done some strange things that are not normal.  When he was so sick as a baby when Jo Anne received him the doctors felt the infections damaged his brain in some way.  She feels he needs speech therapy to train him to talk after the surgery.  She remembers what he looked like when I brought him there over 6 years ago and she is amazed at all his progress.

I took Royals X-Ray for review to Beit Cure.  They shared if he was not sitting or crawling at 2 years he will not walk.  He was not sitting or crawling ……they shared he did have a small socket, but his hip bones are also not formed correctly.  She said we are blessed he has not had trouble with the bone popping out of the not so well developed socket.  They suggested a X-Ray each year to compare with this years to make sure nothing get worse.

These reports so close together are a bit hard to take as it is a difficult situation for both children, with an outlook that will be challenging for Mackmore and Royal.  Thanks for prayers I will send another update soon.

Blessings from Zambia, Linda Jones
