As part of our Orphans & Widows partnership in Pakistan, aid is provided that empowers these families to stay together in one household. These families experience challenges that are beyond our understanding as persecution of Christians has increased in the past month.

As we began to communicate with our field partners and GO! Ambassadors at the start of July, we could tell that something very special was in the making.

As I prep for the upcoming Beautiful Child Gala on September 24th, I have taken a look back to review our journey since 2005.

We have covered much ground, gone great distances, and have increased our reach over these eighteen years.

I do not believe that this means the same thing for everyone, and one example provided in scripture meant that the young man was to sell everything!

The history of our experience with the Great Commandment goes back many years in our ministry. In fact, you might say that we have been a Great Commandment ministry from our beginnings as we have setout to serve orphan children.

In consideration of the Great Commandment, I would implore you to listen to God as to how He might have you respond to love your neighbor.

Our partners in the field and here at home are the fuel that propels us to advance the cause of orphans.

Church Mobilization 2.0

To date we have co-hosted 20 Great Commandment Workshops in Asia, Kenya, and Zambia in our effort to mobilize the local church to serve orphan children in their communities. A total of 3,699 ministry leaders have attended one of these workshops.

Results have mostly exceeded expectations. We have been encouraged by the attendees, and then again as we follow-up with GO! Ambassadors to monitor their progress. The question that I have been asking since earlier this year, is what does Church Mobilization 2.0 look like?

We were able to reach 5,860 orphan children with some level of care or impact in June. These children were served in Asia, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, and Zambia through our field partners and GO! Ambassador Network. We have experienced a 102% growth in the number of children impacted across our initiatives over 2022 (January-June).

August is typically our low point for resources during the year, but the needs of children continue.

2023 Kakamega

One of the Great Commandment Workshops we held in May was in a place called Kakamega, Kenya, and was attended by 318 local area ministry leaders. It was a wonderful day and a precious time of fellowship.

As part of our Orphans & Widows partnership in Pakistan, these families receive aid needed to stay together in one household, rather than the children being separated from their mother and placed in an orphanage or in some other distant relative’s home. These families experience challenges that are beyond our understanding.

We are about to throw a party and we want you to be there.

Our keynote speaker, Bishop Garang of South Sudan, will share with our guest from his experiences of serving orphan children in South Sudan.

We impacted 5,336 orphan children around the world in May with 108% growth in the number of children impacted across our initiatives over 2022.

Our growth has been moderated over the last several months based on resource limitations, but we continue to serve children efficiently while not neglecting their needs. We would appreciate your prayerful consideration to aid these precious children through the end of 2023.

I was honored to visit Momma Mary when I was in Nairobi this past may, and it was awesome to see what she has accomplished with a minimal investment.

It is not hard for us to find hungry children as we serve in hard places. I have been moved by compassion as I have looked into the eyes of a hungry child. It is impossible for me to do nothing.
