Our Initiatives
What we have learned during our time of serving children is that one-size does not fit all. In assessing the needs of children, we have discovered that there are some orphan children that need care in a home, many who need assistance to return to school, and some that lack basic nutrition needed to sustain life. In addition to these physical needs, these children need emotional and spiritual support based on what are often traumatic circumstances.
Home-Based Care
We currently care for children in this initiative in Kenya, Pakistan, and Zambia. We care for children in a family setting in group homes, and we also provide support for many orphan children via Foster Care. All of these children live within a loving family that provide for their needs.
Education
We have found that while there are opportunities for orphan children to live with extended family, the first thing that is sacrificed based on a lack of financial resources in the home, is education for these children. In cooperation with our field partners, we provide scholarships for orphan children in need so they can attend school in Kenya and Zambia.
Nutrition
In assessing needs of orphan children we discovered that there are many instances where the basic essentials for life are missing or are in short supply. Dietary needs of these vulnerable children can minimize results at school, stunt their physical growth, and can cause long-lasting negative health outcomes. We currently provide nutrition assistance to 1,000’s of orphan children in Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, and South Sudan.
Church Mobilization
Is our newest initiative launched in February 2022. We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops (GCW) where we bring together subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically. Together with local ministry leaders we launch a local grassroots effort so serve orphan children in their community. Beyond the financial commitment of the workshops, this effort is indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting. We are mobilizing the local church to serve orphan children in their communities to advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel to others.
