Urgent Appeal: Protecting Our Children from Deadly Lightning Strikes
Urgent Appeal from Christ Mission to the World with whom we serve with in South Sudan.
“Now, when dark clouds gather, the children’s laughter fades. They glance nervously at the sky, their little hands covering their ears, whispering prayers that the storm will pass without another tragedy. This is no way for a child to live in constant fear of what the next lightning strike might bring. We cannot remain idle in the face of such danger. -Bishop Garang Chan Majok, Executive Director

This act of compassion has not only quenched the thirst of orphans in Aweil Town, but has renewed their dignity, health, and future. The ripple effect of this water system goes far beyond what words can capture. It touches classrooms, kitchens, clinics, and most of all hearts.

Aweil Food Aid Road Map | South Sudan
We recently completed a process to determine how we might best meet the needs of orphan children in the Aweil area of South Sudan, where we currently feed 1,753 of these children. We are encouraged by all that has been accomplished within the Aweil Food Aid Mission Project since 2016. Within the process of considering our Road Map forward, we have an eye toward addressing current needs into the future.

June is no different as we have set out to care for more than 2,700 orphan children in our three care initiatives; Home-Based Care, Education, and Nutrition and plan to impact another 12,600 children through our Church Mobilization efforts.

Water is LIFE
I have been told during travels to Africa that “water is life”. None of us can live without water, and for many, one of the necessities of life is very difficult to come by.

2024 Reach 10/40 Mission Deployment
2024 Reach 10/40 Mission. I am ramping up preparation for a return to Asia for our Reach 10/40 Mission. I am eager to meet with the Pastors there that have been instrumental in our Church Mobilization Initiative roll-out.
This mission should result in 325 GO! Ambassadors being commissioned, which will eventually benefit 1,973 orphan children. We can project these expectations based on data that we have collected on the five workshops conducted in Asia thus far over the last year.

Christmas Blessing
Eighteen years ago, we were preparing to deploy our family to Juarez, Mexico, for our very first international mission. We were busy gathering gifts for 20 children that year along with some other supplies for an orphanage located there. It was an exciting time venturing into the unknown with only our faith to guide us!
While we might be larger as a group than eighteen years ago, we also have many commitments that didn’t exist then. It was a simpler time, but our faith continues to guide us into the unknown.
Building the Future in Aweil Town
Since we are already serving in Adoor, Luethwek, Beliek, and at one other location in Aweil, which are all located in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, providing food aid in Aweil Town only seemed like a natural next step. We are building the future in Aweil Town!
With the funding provided, construction began last month for latrines for the school. This project will be done later this month. Early next year, Christ Mission to the World will establish a temporary cook shelter where meals can be prepared to serve 709 vulnerable children.
Girls Soccer at Beliek
Beliek Primary School produces female Soccer team to bolster Girl child education campaign as part of the GO! Sponsorship IMPACT in the community.
With more than 20 girls ages of 6- 16 years have been trained to play soccer and will be ready to compete with other neighboring schools' girls during Christmas Eve celebrations this year.
Creating the Future
Together, what we are really doing is creating the future, and this is not just any future, but a better future for all. You see, orphan children are not the only ones to be blessed by this work. The result is that each of us is encouraged by others in our movement.
The way forward is a posture of abundance and not of scarcity.
