Schovia was found her abandoned at a dumpsite at a place called, Deliverance in Kawangware. She was just a few days old.

Based on our Church Mobilization Initiative, via our Great Commandment Workshops (GCW) events, we are witnessing the local church moving out in their communities to serve orphan children.

Meet Brigit Makena, an 11-year old orphan girl who attends Fortune Learners’ Centre in Kayole –Nairobi. Makena lives with her mother who is currently running a small grocery but can’t raise enough to fully support all their needs.

He is now receiving aid via our Nutrition Initiative at Fortune Learners’ Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, and will be attending FLC on a GO! Scholarship in the coming year.

We spent October 31st in Kitwe co-hosting a Great Commandment Workshop event with Kitwe Central Church.

It was wonderful to see the Church gather together to embrace what the scriptures tell us regarding serving the poor -specifically the orphan child.

To date we have enlisted 655 GO! Ambassadors to serve orphan children their communities.

As part of continuous support of orphan children in South Sudan by Global Orphan Relief (GO!), in collaboration with Christ Mission to the World (CMW), to help empower the older orphans and those with less or no parental cares at all, the school formed both girls’ and boys’ soccer teams which have been tremendously excelling.

Meet James Otieno, 6 years old, who came to the Fortune Learners’ Centre in 2020 with his two cousins -Dylan age 14 and Neola age 7. James was born when his mum was single, so he grew under the care of one parent until she passed due to illness

He is now receiving aid via our Nutrition Initiative at Fortune Learners’ Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

Winfred and Jacinta are like many children who live in rural Kenya that have limited access to education, basic necessities, and limited hope for the future.

Through Global Orphan Relief’s Education Initiative, we provide scholarships to orphan students that allow them to continue their education and provides them food at school.

Widow Shanti and her five children are the most recent addition to our Orphans & Widows project in Punjab, Pakistan.

As part of our Orphans & Widows partnership in Pakistan, these families are receiving the aid needed to stay together in one household. This effort prevents these children from being displaced into an orphanage or other environment that would separate them from their mother.

Providing food aid to some of the neediest is something we find value in at Global Orphan Relief. We fed 1,725 children last month in Ethiopia, Kenya, & South Sudan.

We are meeting the needs of nine widow-led households in Punjab, Pakistan this month. There are many challenges for these families regarding food, housing, and education for the children.

Students with school meals support at Lueth-wek, South Sudan, have outshone their neighboring schools with flying colors.

Since 2016, we are honored to have been working with South Sudanese partner Christ Mission to the World to feed orphan children and have provided an estimated 1.7 million meals.

We served a record number of children in October and plan for aggressive growth through 2023. We are encouraged by the response in the field in our newest initiative Church Mobilization, with plans to launch in the U.S. and India in 2023.

With the launch of Zambia last month, we are expecting great things from the Church there in the coming months!

We spent October 27-29 in the Northwestern Province of Zambia with World Outreach Team Action (WOTA) as we assessed the needs of orphan children in the area.

There is much that can be accomplished here on the behalf of orphan children to advance the Kingdom.

I wanted to pass along a second part of the story I posted on July 30th, from Mother Mary’s perspective. The following is what she shared with us from Nairobi earlier this year as she provides an update with the progress of her business.

Meet Denzel Akaliche, a 13-year-old orphan boy, who sadly lost both of his parents in a span of five months. He is now receiving aid via our Nutrition Initiative at Fortune Learners’ Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

This effort prevents these children from being displaced into an orphanage or other environment that would separate them from their mother.

We launched our Church Mobilization Initiative in February in Mombasa and Nairobi, Kenya. Since that time, momentum is building as we work to deploy the Church to advance the cause of orphan children.

Recently, the Director for this initiative in Kenya, Minister Isaiah Kimani, has mobilized to Zambia to prepare for our launch into this country where we have served since 2006.

With reports of local flooding coming in, water bourne diseases have become an issue for the student body at the three schools in which we serve. With the assistance of Christ Mission to the World, we would like to get medicines to the children for distribution and treatment of the sick.

We are making good progress in the field through the first two quarters of 2022. We had experienced some difficulties in March and April, but after a Field Realignment that began in May, along with the generosity of many of you, we have regained our footing and are now prepared to grow again.

As many of you know, I visited Kenya earlier this year for the launch of our Church Mobilization Initiative. This was the primary purpose of my visit, but I also spent some time in Nairobi visiting with our field partners and visiting their project sites. I was able to take some time to visit with one family in Kayole that cause the Church to move on their behalf. Beautiful!
