A Place of Refuge & Hope

A Place of Refuge and Hope: The Story of House of Faith Orphanage in Mpampi, Zambia

by Scott Nordstrom

Tucked away in the peaceful village of Mpampi, Zambia, House of Faith Orphanage has been a beacon of love, hope, and transformation since it opened its doors in March 2008. For over 15 years, this special place has welcomed orphaned children into a nurturing environment where they are not only provided with the essentials of life—but also given the tools to thrive.

From its humble beginnings, House of Faith has grown into more than just an orphanage—it is a home, a community, and a launchpad for brighter futures. Many of the children who once called House of Faith home have now stepped into adulthood, building new lives in nearby villages or moving on to opportunities in the city. What remains consistent is the solid foundation they received while under the care of this remarkable place.

At the heart of House of Faith’s mission is a commitment to both education and spiritual growth. The children are blessed with access to a sound education, equipping them with knowledge and skills that empower them to dream big and break cycles of poverty. Even more importantly, they are raised to know and love Jesus, growing in faith through the guidance of those who care deeply for them. As I have had the opportunity to visit House of Faith Orphanage on many occasions, I can tell you that this is Holy Ground where children are nurtured and provided a place of comfort and safety.

Much of the orphanage’s strength lies in the community that surrounds it. The “House Moms”—many of whom are widows themselves—offer motherly care and wisdom, serving as daily reminders of God’s love in action. A local pastor provides spiritual leadership, ensuring that faith remains at the core of everything the orphanage does. Together, this dedicated team has created a place where healing, learning, and transformation happen every day.

House of Faith is not just a story of survival—it’s a story of restoration, purpose, and new beginnings. It stands as a testimony to what is possible when compassion meets action, and when a community unites for the sake of its most vulnerable.

As we reflect on the lives touched and the futures changed through House of Faith, we are reminded that true impact starts with open hearts and a willingness to serve. Mpampi may be a small village, but through House of Faith, its light reaches far beyond its borders.

We thank our local field partner, Noah Ministries in Zambia, for their efforts to meet the needs of orphans in their community. We have served with Noah Ministries since 2007. As we continue the effort to care for orphan children in school, we need to secure the monthly support needed for this current level of aid so we can grow this partnership by serving additional children.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work through local partners in each country who provide oversight and distribution of care. In 2024, we impacted 19,457 orphan children in seven countries -in Asia (unnamed countries), Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within our Home-based Care, Education, Nutrition, and Church Mobilization Initiatives.

Global Orphan Relief (GO!) has been serving orphaned children since 2005, and as a result of this effort, orphan children, widows, families, and entire communities are transformed through our Home-Based Care Initiative.  The care provided creates a ripple effect through the entire community as we demonstrate God’s love for His people.
