Meet Chama Manex: A First Grader with a Bright Future

Meet Chama Manex: A First Grader with a Bright Future

by WOTA Team

In a quiet village in Zambia’s North-Western Province, a young boy named Chama Manex is taking his first steps toward a brighter future. Chama is a Grade 1 student at Shilenda Primary School, full of energy, curiosity, and the promise of what education can unlock. What makes Chama’s journey particularly special is that he is one of the 125 orphaned children receiving support through the ICS Child Care Plus Mission Project.

This project, rooted in love and compassion, was established to reach some of the most vulnerable children in the region—orphans who might otherwise be left without access to schooling, basic supplies, or consistent care. For children like Chama, it is more than just a sponsorship program; it is a lifeline.

With direct assistance from our Field Partner World Outreach Team Action (WOTA), Chama now has the essentials he needs to attend school—uniforms, notebooks, pens, and, perhaps most importantly, a sense of dignity and belonging. At school, he’s learning how to read, write, and count, skills that will shape his future and give him tools to dream beyond his current circumstances.

But the impact of the program goes beyond academics. It gives children like Chama the confidence to hope, to engage with their peers, and to look forward to each new day with purpose. Through the care and prayers of generous supporters, Chama is no longer just surviving—he is growing, learning, and thriving.

We celebrate Chama and all the children supported by the ICS Child Care Plus Mission Project. Each one has a story, a future, and a God-given potential that we are honored to help nurture.

Thank you to all who make this possible. Your support is changing lives—one child, one classroom, one village at a time.

Please note that Pastoral care is provided to these students as our partners demonstrate the Gospel through your kind support.

We thank our local field partner, World Outreach Team Action in Zambia, for their efforts to meet the needs of orphans in their community. We have served with WOTA since 2023. As we continue this effort it is important for us to secure the monthly support needed for this current level of aid so we can grow this partnership by serving additional children. Throughout the North-Western Province of Zambia there are more than 30,000 children that need assistance to attend school.

Support is needed for additional children to attend school. This aid and method of care allow families to support ALL the children in their households and strengthen communities by helping to maintain strong family units.

Often orphan children are cared for by extended families, and their education becomes the lowest priority for the household. We aid the children that are in jeopardy of not attending school by working with local learning institutions to identify children in the community who need aid to attend school.

Global Orphan Relief (GO!) has been serving orphaned children since 2005, and as a result of this effort, orphan children, widows, families, and entire communities are transformed through our Education Initiative.  The care provided creates a ripple effect through the entire community as we demonstrate God’s love for His people.
