From Humble Beginnings to Hope for the Future

From Humble Beginnings to Hope for the Future

by Scott Nordstrom

In January 2007, Mike Dee and I made our first visit to Mapampi, Zambia. I still remember walking into the local village school—it had only a grass-thatched roof and no classroom furniture to speak of. That moment left a deep impression on both of us.

Later that same year, with the support of Noah Ministries, we were able to help construct a proper roof for the school. Over the years, additional support came in. The Mwebaza Foundation generously stepped in to provide much-needed furniture and school supplies.Since these early years we have also completed a water project for this school that is adjacent to the House of Faith Orphanage.

Now, nearly 18 years later, it's incredibly heartening to see how far things have come. Today, we're equipping orphaned children to attend this very community school—a place that once had so little, but now stands as a beacon of opportunity and education.

Please note that Pastoral care is provided to these students as our partners demonstrate the Gospel through your kind support.

We thank our local field partner, Noah Ministries in Zambia, for their efforts to meet the needs of orphans in their community. We have served with Noah Ministries since 2007. As we continue the effort to enroll orphan children in school, we need to secure the monthly support needed for this current level of aid so we can grow this partnership by serving additional children.

Support is needed for additional children to attend school. This aid and method of care allow families to support ALL the children in their households and strengthen communities by helping to maintain strong family units.

Often, orphan children are cared for by extended families, and their education becomes the lowest priority for the household. We aid the children who are in jeopardy of not attending school by working with local learning institutions to identify children in the community who need aid to attend school.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work through local partners in each country who provide oversight and distribution of care. In 2023 we impacted 16,196 orphan children in six countries -in Asia (unnamed country), Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within our Home-based Care, Scholarship, Nutrition, and Church Mobilization Initiatives.

Global Orphan Relief (GO!) has been serving orphaned children since 2005, and as a result of this effort, orphan children, widows, families, and entire communities are transformed through our Education Initiative.  The care provided creates a ripple effect through the entire community as we demonstrate God’s love for His people.
