2024 Reach 10/40 Mission Deployment
2024 Reach 10/40 Mission Deployment
by Scott Nordstrom
February 1, 2024
I am ramping up preparation for a return to Asia for our Reach 10/40 Mission. I am eager to meet with the Pastors there that have been instrumental in our Church Mobilization Initiative roll-out over the last year.
As of now, it appears that I will be solo, but will meet-up with our GO! Team leader there and will spend the duration of sixteen days with this Pastor facilitating four Great Commandment Workshops. In addition, we will have one Summit meeting where we will meet with the GO! Ambassadors that came out of a meeting we did in February 2023.
One of our meetings in March will be a launch event in a new country. I am purposeful in not mentioning the specific countries due to security concerns.
For those who are not aware, our Great Commandment Workshops are co-hosted with a local church to deploy fellow believers to serve orphan children. Generally, the morning is spent building a biblical foundation for serving the poor -for us more specifically orphan children, and in the afternoon, we exchange practical ideas in which people can serve orphan children in their community. Finally, we a call to action where we ask for commitments of those ministry leaders who believe that they are being called to care for orphan children. These are the individuals who become what we refer to as GO! Ambassadors.
Based on the workshops that we have facilitated thus far in Asia we can project outcomes within a reasonable range of accuracy:
Post workshops, our in-country teams offer the GO! Ambassadors’ encouragement and track their activity monthly. We provide no physical parameters in which these Ambassadors provide care or aid to children, only that they conduct themselves according to the Scriptures and local laws. We also offer no support to them or for the children they might serve. Other than our monthly communication, this effort is to be indigenous, self-propagating, & self-supporting.
This brings me to the costs that I do want to share with you. We do provide some support to the local team who work to co-host the event with GO!, and then provide the funding required for tea and a meal during the day for everyone in attendance. Our average event in Asia so far has been 117 ministry leaders, but this year we are hoping to increase our average attendance by 18%. In addition, we do have costs of deployment for me and for individuals already in Asia to consider for this March. From departure to my arrival home, this mission will be nineteen days with sixteen days being on the ground in Asia.
We will also be traveling by ground between four locations in one country and a flight will be required to transition to the second country. In addition to co-hosting the workshops, there will be numerous ministry opportunities that I will have to encourage the local people. I usually have another handful of times that I can share with local area churches. I am looking forward to sharing the Scriptures and being blessed in the process. We will be working in local churches in Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, and Buddhist majority areas.
My travel is planned for March 13th to the 31st. I will arrive home on Easter! A couple of things that I would ask; one, please be praying for safety and good results for the Kingdom during my time away from home, and two, consider investing in this Church Mobilization effort to benefit orphan children. You can join our prayer team here, and you can financial support this mission at 2024 Reach 10/40 Mission or you may do so from our website.
Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care. As December, we impacted 16,196 orphan children in six countries -in Asia (unnamed country), Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within our Home-based Care, Scholarship, Nutrition, and Church Mobilization Initiatives.
