Pastor Dadius with Scott Nordstrom

On May 6th, 2023, we held our third and final workshop in Western Kenya, and this momentous event did not disappoint.

I was reminded of this day through a Facebook message from Pastor Dadius today.

What struck me about Pastor Dadius was that he traveled through the night to be with us in Kakamega that day, from a place called Kisii -where he lives with his family.

You see, Pastor Dadius is just starting out and has a desire to be in the middle of what God is doing. He is sincere about fulfilling his role in the Kingdom -whatever that might be.

Pastor Dadius leads a small village church and is doing what he can to lead his parish, however, he is not ignorant of the needs of the people he sees around him. Sometimes it is difficult to just know where to start and he was hoping to find some of these answers during his time at the workshop.

It is obvious that the Father has a special place in His heart for the orphan child. The scriptures are clear as to our mandate, and in James the care of orphan children is referred to as Pure Religion.

Dadius was also able to hear from those in Kenya who are already doing this kind of work. That day he left Kakamega he was both challenged and encouraged by what he had heard. As he journeyed back home through the evening he was considering all that he had heard and what actions he might take in his community.

It was an honor to meet Pastor Dadius, and l Iook forward to our next exchange of Facebook messages. He had reached out to me to let me know that he had heard from our team in Kenya, and that he had received his certificate for his attendance to the workshop and that he received his copy of Pure Religion.

I am thankful for Dadius’ encouragement, and I look forward to hearing how God is using him to serve orphan children in his community in the future.

Some of the support activities that are underway by our Ambassadors in June include receiving orphan children into their homes to be part of their family, school fees, provision of school supplies, food, and mentorship -and this is just a few examples how these children are being blessed. I continue to be amazed each month as I read accounts of what is happening in the field, and I am blessed as it seems that more and more children are being served through this initiative.

There is power in the local church, and the local people know these children and are prepared to address their needs. I am so encouraged by all of our Ambassadors as they step out in faith to serve others in their communities.

This is a beautiful picture of how God wants to use the Church. This includes you and me! Thanks to all who are involved in this effort in some way! -Scott
