August Need

August Need

August 8, 2023

by Scott Nordstrom

August is traditionally the low point for the ministry regarding available resources. We have had one cash flow positive month in 2023 and three cash flow positive months in the last year. Our resource levels are usually the highest at the end of the year as we attempt to manage our resources through the year until our Gala is held -usually in September or October.

I don’t believe that this is that unusual for a ministry such as ours. We do place a high value on distributing resources to the field, so we so have to be very intentional about not extending care to too many children knowing that if we are too aggressive, we will not be able to sustain this care through the entire year.

For example, our cash balances were $23,949 on August 3rd, which is $28,552 lower than August 3, 2022. These funds will not provide the needed resources for the entire month of August.

There is plenty of good news for what has occurred in 2023 in that we have impacted 102% more children so far this year than in 2022. In addition, we have increased funding by 15% which has allowed for us to fund this growth so far this year.

We are blessed that more than 250 funding partners (you) have fueled this ministry to orphan children with your generosity. The work that you all continue to accomplish is inspiring! Our field partners are continuing to be nimble as they have had to adjust to the level that we have been able to support the various mission projects in Asia and Africa.

While we have reduced our level of support from what we had budgeted for 2023, we are sprinting through September to gather the essential resource needs of the children. Our funding need for August is as follows:

What we believe to be important as we move into the remainder of 2023 and into 2024, is to provide higher levels of support for the children served. This means that without serving more children, our funding requirements will increase.

This will require adding new partners that would like to invest in the Kingdom by providing aid to orphan children. Global Orphan Relief remains one of the great values for investing Kingdom resources as we work to lift up the next generation.

As I have outlined in previous months There are up to five ways for you to get involved:

  1. Join us for our Beautiful Child Gala on September 24th and bring your friends;

  2. Set-up a monthly gift;

  3. Consider a one-time gift;

  4. If you are already a funding partner, consider telling a friend or family member about the wonderful work that you are accomplishing through Global Orphan Relief!

  5. Pray for this ministry. Pray for wise decision making and that the children receive all that they need.

  6. Consider how you might advance the cause of orphan children through serving in some way.

So many of you have made significant contributions to this important work over the last 18-years. This is your movement and thank you for your continued faithfulness.
