April 2023 GO! Ambassador of the Month | Kenya

by GO! Kenya Team
We are honored to announce Pastor Kepher Luhombo of Mombasa, as our GO! Ambassador of the month of April in Kenya.
We are excited to hear from Pastor Kepher in his own words, based on his attendance of a Great Commandments Workshop in February 2022. We are encouraged by this Pastor and many other ministry leaders like him in Mombasa, that are diligently working in their communy for the betterment of orphan children.
As the Pastor of Kanana Fellowship Church in Mombasa, I am privileged to share my experience and the impact of the workshop we attended. I am not only a spiritual leader but also a family man with a small business and a small-scale farming venture.
The workshop came to my attention through a fellow clergy member, who recognized the potential benefits for our church community. Prior to attending the workshop, we provided meals for the children in our church once a month. However, the valuable insights gained from the workshop prompted me to convene a meeting with my church leaders, resulting in a decision to increase the frequency of these meals to every Sunday.
Although our church resources are modest, we make concerted efforts to contribute what we can and receive support from well-wishers. Currently, we can provide nourishment to 25 children, 10 of whom are orphans, within our church community. In addition to this, I personally extend my support to two widows who are not affiliated with our church. On a monthly basis, I take their budgets into consideration and assist them with necessary foodstuffs through shopping. One widow is responsible for six grandchildren, while the other cares for four children. I initiated this support after attending the workshop.
Undoubtedly, the most significant challenge we face is financial assistance, as there are instances when the widows require aid during periods when I am financially strained. However, I firmly believe that with God's guidance, a way is always made, enabling me to provide whatever assistance I can in such circumstances.
Engaging in this ministry not only allows me to serve God Himself but also brings immense happiness to my heart. Through practical demonstrations of love, the community witnesses the genuine embodiment of God's teachings rather than mere verbal instruction.
II am profoundly grateful for the workshop that has empowered me and my church community to extend our acts of kindness and support to those in need. We understand the significance of nourishing not only their physical bodies but also their spirits, as we strive to reflect the love of God in tangible ways. However, financial constraints remain an ongoing obstacle, which we continue to overcome through faith and determination. Your support and generosity would greatly contribute to the continuation and expansion of our endeavors, enabling us to make a lasting impact on the lives of these vulnerable children and widows.
Together, we can uplift the community and reinforce the practical manifestation of God's love.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care. In 2022 we impacted 7,700 children in Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within our Home-based Care, Nutrition, Scholarship, & Church Mobilization Initiatives.
Through our Church Mobilization effort 2,400 ministry leaders are going deep into their communities to care for orphan children. This is a beautiful picture of how our King wants to care for his children, and a great example of obedience for all of us.
Beyond the financial commitment of the workshops, this effort is to be indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting. Our objective is to engage local churches to expand our GO! network, mobilize the church body to serve orphaned children, and to advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel to others. Through these workshops we are:
Church Mobilization is our newest initiative launched in February 2022. We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops where we bring together multiple subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically. We track the impact of children served through this effort to justify continued investment.
We have co-hosted and facilitated twenty workshops in Asia, Kenya, and Zambia that have hosted a total of 3,619 ministry leaders. At the conclusion of these workshops, we have been honored to commission 2,200 GO! Ambassadors, and have enlisted an additional 219 leaders during follow-up to these events. GO! Ambassadors are those who have received the call to serve orphan children in their communities during these one-day workshops.
