As this is hunger gap season, children without parental cares at the Aweil's Lighthouse Orphanage in South Sudan have shown good improvement, developed nutritionally, and have gained weight as despite shaking and threatening hunger crises in the country. Being placed under Church management for a year now, they have grown fat and healthy as they're fed on the balanced diet feeding.

There are currently 74 children getting support at the church's accommodation center with funding from American based charity organization Global Orphan Relief (GO!),  in collaboration with Christ Mission to the World since July last year.

Among the beneficiaries is Thiep Akot Thiep, a two year-old parentless boy who was among the children admitted to this center last year, he is now becoming super healthy and feeding regardless his perceived weakness and sickness which were bothering him for many months in 2020.

He seemed to have struggled, but has now gained weight of up to 10 kg from weighing 6 kg previously.

The center was named as Lighthouse because most children here have been parentally abandoned and were loitering on streets before being gathered at this point. This center was established in July last year when the Church of faithful people at Lighthouse found 10 kids being abandoned on the streets without being supportive to themselves. These children were brought to the church premises where they got accommodated and survived on church offerings till August last year when GO! intervened with feeding and by providing other basic needs.

Global Orphan Relief has provided limited support for these children since August 2020, however, their needs surpass funding available. Support for what is now 74 children within our home-based care initiative in South Sudan was $4,690 this month. With no ongoing funding for their support, securing monthly sponsors will be paramount to continue this work. There are approximately fifty more children currently living on the streets of Aweil.

Today we also currently feed 1,324 orphaned children in South Sudan. You may send support or other correspondence to Global Orphan Relief, 16352 Prairie Farm Cir, Parker, CO 80134 or you may give electronically to support the home-based care at 2021 Home-based Care or our nutrition initiative to feed children in need at 2021 Nutrition Initiative.
