11-year-old Disabled Boy Praises Others for Saving His Life

 AWEIL, SOUTH SUDAN

Yak Yak, a 11-year-old disabled boy at Lueth-wek Village School in South Sudan, says his life has been greatly improved by GO! efforts in his community, and had this to say in response to what he referred as life-saving funding from good Samaritans in America.

“Thank you for helping us in South Sudan. Your unconditional support is life saving and it’s being greatly acknowledged here at our school. I and other beneficiaries have no words to express our feelings in response to your impact in our lives,” Yak Yak joyfully expresses.

With his an appreciation message which he literally writes in Dinka dialect reads “ Nhialic abi kony” which means “God will always help you in anything and multiply the path of your success”.

Yak was reported to be a victim of poliomyelitis (an infectious viral disease that affects the central nervous system and can cause temporary or permanent paralysis).

After becoming beneficiary to Lueth-wek, Yak says he benefited from the food provided, free education, and the gospel teachings -which he says has inspired him and made him to have hope in his future.

He says God has done miracles to the people of South Sudan, especially the villages where GO! supports the village schools, where their support is being widely used to transform lives of vulnerable kids. Despite being disabled at his early age and having no hope, he believes he is blessed and grateful for this life transformation.

Like other 3,000+ beneficiaries in South Sudan, he says the feeding under school meals program has given him a huge life impact and that he is has improved since joining the program at this sponsored school.

In the first nine months of this year we have provided an estimated 403,320 meals impacting 3,162 vulnerable children in South Sudan. The scale of this initiative has grown by nearly 2x when compared to 2020 when we served an estimated 209,680 meals to 2,113 vulnerable children.

In cooperation with multiple partners (Kids for the Kingdom & Christ Mission to the World), together we have invested in these school sites with additional infrastructure over the last 12-months by investing $126,200 during this time for water, kitchens, storerooms, and latrines. We are thankful for these partners that make this work possible. Working together more children will receive meals, with larger portions, and the Kingdom of God will continue to advance in South Sudan!

We also serve 102 orphaned children in South Sudan through our home-based care initiative. Care distribution is handled by Christ Mission to the World via their Lighthouse Orphanage location in Aweil.
