AWEIL, SOUTH SUDAN,
Following the announcements of school results on Monday, the Beliek Primary school becomes one of the top 10 best performers in Aweil South County for 2020/2021 academic year.
Out of 18 primary schools’ general examinations conducted this year, Beliek Orphanage Primary school becomes the ninth best school in the county examination results. The results focused on nursery levels and Primary eight candidates as the rest are still on suspension due convid-19.
This school was lacking support from the host community and had been least populated for years due to lack of sustainability of feeding programme; but following the intervention of Global Orphan Relief, the school has this year shone amongst the best performers, following the results announced this week.
While attending their local ceremonial gathering at the Beliek Orphanage Primary school, the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Aweil South County has acknowledged the transitional improvement at this school so far and that they believe the impact was made of full satisfaction of nutritious meals provided by GO!.
Lual Anguei, a county education coordinator testified during the ceremonial come-together-party in Aweil South on Monday.
“As one of our top 10 schools, this didn’t happen from nothing but from the support this school is getting from our donors (GO!) who wholeheartedly donated what they have for our children here in South Sudan.” Lual acknowledged during his remarks while addressing the school management and students upon their best results for the first time.
It is believed due to the motivation of school meals, Beliek has become number 9 among the best performing schools in Aweil South County, raising its value and quality of education being offered.
The school was also reportedly said to have been the best during the Schools’ March for Christmas Celebrations on Thursday 24th December.
According to the students’ leader, she says they have benefited from this school with many things.
“Being part of this school has given us lots of opportunities, like knowing the word of God, education and respect for our elders (parents). We appreciate the support we are getting from our and this has created an impact in our lives and community.” Mary Akuol acknowledged on behalf of her colleagues at school during the school celebrations day.
At least 590 out of 840 pupils were believed to have passed all their exams at Beliek during both nursery and primary results.

In South Sudan, education is facing enormous challenges with the lack of qualified teachers, little funding to effectively operate schools, and most schools lack basic requirements like school buildings, toilets, food, and clean drinking water.
Plans for 2021 is to provide nutrition to more vulnerable children in the Aweil area, increasing the number of children served by 51% over 2020. In addition, we will begin to further develop these school sites with infrastructure in cooperation with multiple partners.
Today we currently feed 2,113 vulnerable children in South Sudan. You may send support or other correspondence to Global Orphan Relief, 16352 Prairie Farm Cir, Parker, CO 80134 or you may give also give electronically to support the feeding of vulnerable children at 2021 South Sudan Nutrition.
