May 2017 Financial Report

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

We have raised $59,352 in 2017.  This is a 2.9% over the first 5 months of 2016, or $1,650.

As you can see, our support remained constant with the designation of use changing in 2017 versus 2016.  We have been challenged to acquire new partners to the ministry, but do have our annual Gala planned for this coming September.

PROGRAM COSTS

While we did suspend our work in Kenya and Pakistan as of April 30th, we do continue to serve in DR Congo, South Sudan, and Zambia.  In fact, we served 688 children last month in these three countries, and have had 4,331 child care months in 2017 in which we have provided funding.

This means that we have provided some level of care, on average, for 866 orphaned children for the 5-months of 2017.  This level of care is up 38% for the same time-period in 2016, or an average of 240 children per month!  As a result, we have experienced an increase in monthly costs of these programs of 28%, or $4,392, while decreasing the average monthly support per child by 7.7%, or $1.94 per child monthly.

The most concerning metric in reference to our current financial situation is that we ran a deficit for the first 5 months of 2017 of ($41,988), or a ($8,398) monthly average, as compared to 2016 when we experienced a deficit of ($21,678), or a ($4,336) monthly average.  When we consider the suspension of our programs in Kenya and Pakistan, our deficit does narrow to ($30,548), or ($6,110) monthly average.

What complicates the 2017 deficit program spending further is that we began 2016 with a much larger level of funding available at $80,156.  In 2017, we started off the year with $59,634.  $14,049 of this amount was restricted to capital spending.

On a positive note, we have lowered our administrative and fundraising costs to 15.94% for the first five-months of 2017, from a 23.01% in 2016.
