Father’s Day

Summer time is when things seem to speed up for me.  I can’t tell you why really, but each day seems to quickly dissipate and the days easily turn into weeks, and then weeks to months.  It somehow seems more difficult to find the time to serve the children we care for through GO! -though they are always and forever on my mind.

Not only am I blessed to be a dad on Father’s Day, but my children are blessed by just having a dad.  Could you imagine not having a dad or never even knowing who your Father is?  Such is the case for many orphaned children; no mom and no dad.

As you may know, we suspended our programs serving orphans in Kenya and Pakistan as of the end of April.  This was a difficult decision, and gives me angst even today; especially on Father’s Day.  64 children were affected by this action.  In addition, a feeding program in Zambia came to its natural end with a bountiful harvest of maize in this country.  This process has left us with 688 orphaned children we serve in 3-countries; DR Congo, South Sudan, and Zambia.

The most pressing need today for our movement is the mission to South Sudan.  Today in South Sudan things are uncertain at best.  Millions of people have become displaced during the civil war, and so many are in the need of food.  Through a partnership with Pastor Garang Chan we have the opportunity to feed 300 orphaned children in the Aweil district of South Sudan at 2 separate school locations.  This effort provides these children with needed nutrition that also brings these children to the local area school where they receive instruction.  We have also begun to invest in sustainable projects at the communities we serve that will enable the local people to care for these children on a long-term basis.

The meals that we provide in South Sudan come to just over $0.30 each.  We are providing basic nutrition that is life-sustaining for many.  The total costs of these meals are $2,000 monthly and we need $1,000 to fund July, and a total of $11,000 to fund the remainder of the year.  Please consider helping today and providing hope for the future tomorrow for these children.  Go to https://globalorphanrelief.networkforgood.com/projects/22817-south-sudan-feeding-program to join us in feeding these precious children.

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there, and to my own pops “thanks for being my dad”.
