Update Zambia | Kalomo House | Kalomo, Zambia
I met with our teacher Ronald this morning he brought in the results for the children. Because Brian scores were so low he felt Brian should repeat grade 7. Brian agreed. So this has been settled.
Chimuka is 18 and I feel he does not wish to stay in school any longer. I will speak with him this weekend and give him some options.
Priscar scores Benita felt where a bit low for town schools BUT teacher Ronald asked her to please try with the school because of Priscar’s age that she might be given a chance to start grade 8 with the others. HIV positive children do have a harder time learning and again our bottom three are the positive ones.
Luuwo only passed a couple of subjects so she will not continue this year this was her second year in grade 8. We will be sitting with her soon to talk about her future.
Naomi failed three subjects so Benita will be working with the school to see how we might help her. We still have no results yet for Derrick and Steward.
That’s my update on our town kids. I will shop with them Saturday morning. Then the children coming into town after we know the school they will attend will be moving in on Friday… Exciting days ahead.

NEED: Zambia is a country of nearly 14 million people with an orphan population of approximately 1.4 million. Many of these children remain with extended family and most of these extended families have biological children as well. Ultimately, when resources don’t allow for food, clothing, and education as needed, these orphan children are last in line -not having the same rights as the other children.
Through November 2016 we have provided funding of $823,004 that has been invested in capital infrastructure, program development, and for the care of the children. Today we serve 300 children in Zambia through various means; home-based care, foster care, education scholarships, and feeding programs.
The Kalomo House is a rented home in Kalomo for the children that are attending secondary school. The family here does change from year to year based on who is attending school and where. Currently, all of the children living in the Kalomo House are from House of Faith Orphanage.
