Abigael

We received this message yesterday from Pastor Patrice of Orphan’s Home of Grace, our partner in Kenya:  The attached photo is of a two year old baby girl,  Today I had just left the orphanage almost 30 minutes to one pm and the matron called me back that the children department had brought her,  They picked her from the street; the case is with police but we have now to keep her. I pray if any help can be available for her particularly buying a bed, mattress, blankets, clothes and mosquito net.  We have agreed with staff that we will be contributing part of our salary to keep the child going. Kindly if we can be blessed with 280 dollars we will be able to purchase her necessary mentioned items.

God bless you all, Pastor Patrice

In reference to this, Suzanne Powell posted this on Facebook:  As many of you know, I have been involved with the Global Orphan Relief for about 5 years. This child – Abigail – is one of many in Africa abandoned to the streets. If you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior – we are called to defend these orphans and care for them. James 1:27 “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” Please fast from eating out today and give $7 to aid their relief.

There is more to the story here. Suzanne has worked with GO! since 2011 -mostly as a volunteer as our accountant. I called her about this and emailed her the details so she could advise. You see, we are so over committed today with the children we serve; for every $1 we have commitments for $2. While I realize that this might not be prudent, we are trusting God to provide for all.  In regards to Abigael, I was concerned as to whether we should support her and called Suzanne to discuss. Without hesitation Suzanne said that she’d cover the funds needed for Abigael.

Wow! Suzanne saw a need and filled it. Period, end of story. How decisive are each of us in our giving? I am not sure about you, but I am encouraged by Suzanne and baby Abigael. I too need to give more without hesitation. There are plenty of opportunities within this Global Orphan Relief for you to participate today.  Go to https://globalorphanrelief.org/donate-support/ to start today!
