Royal is One Foot in Front of the Other

Nothing happened as planned, but so much was accomplished. We arrived about 10:30am on Tuesday so Royal could be measured for Leg braces and Hand splints. His hands have improved so much he thought maybe just one for his left hand to use only at night while sleeping. We left about two hours later and were told to be back at 7:45 Wednesday morning. It took almost 3 hours Wednesday morning for the braces to be fitted and the hand splint to be molded. We have been told he should wear the braces all day and we might see results in a month. Well, Royal was complaining a lot after 30 mins so he is 30 mins on and 30 mins off; we will have to work him to go longer as his muscles will allow us.

We took everyone to Manda Hill (Western style mall) to look around and I am still not sure what our house moms and children thought about an elevator and the escalator, but everyone had smiles. We also got Royal a new pair of high top shoes that would fit over his braces. I am now looking for something to put on his legs while he’s in the braces so he will not get sores from the hard plastic material on his soft skin. Maybe a pair of leotards will work, but I just need to look at the market to see what I can find. Caring for Royal is challenging for us and certainly add to the costs at House of Faith, but we wouldn’t have it any other way as God as put him in our past to care for. What a beautiful boy with a great big heart!

At the mall, Royal sat in his wheelchair and just watched all the people walking by him in the food court. I am sure he has never seen that many people in his whole life. Keep praying for Royal step by step! God is good!
