Education Initiative
Opening doors through learning—education is the pathway to a better life and the foundation for a bright future for every child.
Breaking the Cycle Through Education
Often, the orphaned child living with extended family is neglected in many instances, especially when considering school fees and other costs required for primary and secondary education. These children do not have the same priority as the biological children within the family unit and are oftentimes not enrolled in school due to a lack of resources within the household.
We believe that one of the key elements to breaking the cycle of poverty is education. Shouldn't every child have the opportunity to attend school to learn to read and to write?
We are partnering with local schools in Zambia to give orphan children the opportunity to begin or continue in their education. The children served through our Education Initiative are equipped for the school year with uniforms, shoes, backpacks, and stationary, and in special cases we support their attendance through covering the school fee costs.
The only ongoing qualification for the child is to progress in their studies. Children that apply the time and effort needed to move to the next grade level remain in the program from year to year. Scholastically, progression is the only requirement.

What We’re Aiming to Achieve:
Our Education Initiative is transforming lives in Zambia, and in 2025 we aim to scale our impact even further.
How It Works:
We work directly with local schools and community partners to identify children in need, cover school costs, and ensure continued enrollment based on academic progress. Our approach ensures every dollar goes where it’s needed most.
Why It Matters:
Every child in school is a child gaining confidence, connection, and a path to a better life. With community-based partners facilitating care and education, your support helps us break barriers and open doors—one student at a time.
Key Goals:
1
Enroll 1,490 children into school programs in Zambia
2
Sustain academic progress for current scholarship recipients
3
Raise $ 446,900 to educate the children served through this initiative
Where Education Is Happening
Active Projects
Fortune Learners’ Centre (Kenya)
Located in Kayole Slum near Nairobi, Kenya, this school provides education for over 200 orphaned and vulnerable children. Many of these students live with extended family or in widow-led homes. Through scholarships, Global Orphan Relief helps cover tuition, uniforms, books, and meals—giving these children access to quality education in a safe and caring environment. Fortune Learners’ Centre is a trusted partner that shares our vision of transforming lives through learning.
Ulutya Scholarship Program (Kenya)
Serving children in Ulutya Village, Kenya, this program supports 40 orphaned teenagers who have advanced to secondary school. Without financial help, these students would likely be forced to drop out. With our scholarships, they are able to continue their education and pursue opportunities that can lift them—and their families—out of poverty.
Southern Province (Zambia) Scholarships
In collaboration with Noah Ministries, Global Orphan Relief provides scholarships for over 125 students across 14 different schools in Southern and North-Western Zambia. Many of these children are orphaned or living in high-poverty rural areas. Our support includes school fees, uniforms, supplies, and meals—ensuring students can attend and stay in school without interruption.
