Caring for the Least of These: A Visit to Breath of Life Orphanage in Nepal
May 1, 2025
by GO! Nepal Team
As followers of Christ, we are called to act in love and compassion. Scripture makes this clear: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..." (James 1:27). In Isaiah 1:17, we are urged to “seek justice, defend the oppressed.” These verses continue to inspire and guide us as we step into places of need and serve with hearts of compassion.
On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Global Orphan Relief ambassadors, together with members from Kripa Free Methodist Church in Nepal, took this calling to heart. In response to the vision sparked by the Great Commandment Workshop held in this community last year, our group visited the Breath of Life Orphanage located in Belbari-3, Morang, Nepal.

This small but vibrant home currently shelters seven orphaned children, most of whom were brought from the western regions of Nepal. Their ages range from 8 to 14 years, and they are incredibly gifted—not just academically, but also in sports, singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, drawing, and crafting.
During our visit, we spent quality time with the children—encouraging them, sharing songs, and introducing them to the story of Jesus Christ. It was a beautiful moment of connection, laughter, worship, and love. Their joy and energy are testaments to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of God's sustaining grace.
Running an orphanage in Nepal is no easy task. The government imposes various legal requirements that must be met to maintain such a home. In addition to legal hurdles, the orphanage also faces significant financial challenges. Yet, by God's grace, Breath of Life Orphanage has not only survived but thrived for five years.
We continue to pray for strength, provision, and protection for the children and the caregivers. Their journey is a reminder of why we are called to act—not just in words but in deed and truth.
May the Church remain vigilant in defending the oppressed, standing for justice, and showing the love of Christ to those most in need.
To date, we have deployed a total of 335 GO! Ambassadors across Nepal. Their unwavering commitment and compassionate service exemplify our mission to bring hope and support to vulnerable children.
We are deeply encouraged by the growing network of leaders and volunteers who are answering the call to care for orphaned children in Nepal. Their dedication is transforming lives, one child at a time. Together, we continue to expand our reach, ensuring that every child experiences the love and care they deserve.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work through local partners in each country that provide oversight and distribution of care through three care initiatives; Home-Based Care, Education, and Nutrition. In 2022, we launched our Church Mobilization Initiative by which we are mobilizing the local church to care for orphan children. We are not consistently impacting more than 10,000 children in seven countries in Africa & Asia within these four initiatives each month..
Beyond the financial commitment of co-hosting Great Commandment Workshops, this effort is Indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting. Our objective is to engage local churches to expand our GO! network, mobilize the church body to serve orphaned children, and advance the Kingdom by demonstrating the Gospel to others. Through these workshops, we are:
Church Mobilization is our newest initiative launched in February 2022. We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops where we bring together multiple subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically. We track the impact of children served through this through local GO! teams in each country.
We have co-hosted and facilitated thirty-four workshops in Africa & Asia, where we have hosted more than 5,700 ministry leaders. During these workshops, we have been honored to commission more than 4,600 GO! Ambassadors. GO! Ambassadors are those who have received the call to serve orphan children in their communities during these one-day workshops and have made a commitment to serve children in their community. We encourage them in their journey to serve others each month. In addition, we provide additional training and encouragement through our online Great Commandment Academy.
In March 2025, this GO! Ambassador Network served 9,543 orphan children.
