by GO! Kenya Team

Join us in recognizing Geoffrey Nyairo Ogongo our GO! Ambassador of the Month for October in Kenya.

###########

My name is Geoffrey Nyairo Ogongo. I am 33 years old, married to one wife and together we have one son. We live at Kawangware in Nairobi.

I learned about GO!’s Great Commandment Workshop through PAG church in Kawangware and this when I was exposed to the ministry through my attendance.

My wife and I provide shelter and food to one orphan who is not our relative. This girl was found helpless on the street because her relatives had abandoned her. Thereafter, the friend who had been accomodating her chased her away. This is when my wife met her one morning on the street as she was going to work. Based on this chance meeting, my wife had a conversation with her and since that day we took her in and she stays with us as part of our family.

Another experience I have had since attending the Great Commandment Workshop is that I gave my laptop to a partial orphan whose mother was unable to provide for her. He was joining the university in Kisii and needed a laptop to use during his studies, so I sacrificed my own.

The challenges that I am facing as a casual worker means I am not a permanent employee. Sometimes I am jobless and yet I still have to provide for my family.

I would like to encourage all of us to consider;

- It's more blessings to give than to receive.

- Giving is an act of showing love to those who are unable.

- It is not a must to have much so that you can give. With the small you have, you can also share with someone in need just as the Bible teaches us.

- In the book of Philippians 4:15-18 we give and in return, we are rewarded according to our faith.

Geoffrey’s story is a wonderful testimony of generosity based on obedience to the scriptures. .

Congratulations to Geoffrey for this recognition as he encourages others to walk out in faith.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work through local partners in each country that provide oversight and distribution of care through three care initiatives; Home-Based Care, Education, and Nutrition. In 2022, we launched our Church Mobilization Initiative by which we are mobilizing the local church to care for orphan children. Last month, we impacted 20,209 children in seven countries in Africa & Asia within these four initiatives.

Beyond the financial commitment of co-hosting Great Commandment Workshops, this effort is Indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting.  Our objective is to engage local churches to expand our GO! network, mobilize the church body to serve orphaned children, and advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel to others.  Through these workshops, we are:

Church Mobilization is our newest initiative launched in February 2022.  We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops where we bring together multiple subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically.  We track the impact of children served through this through local GO! teams in each country.

We have co-hosted and facilitated more than 30 workshops in Africa & Asia where we have hosted more than 5,000 ministry leaders. At the conclusion of these workshops, we have been honored to commission more than 4,000 GO! Ambassadors. GO! Ambassadors are those who have received the call to serve orphan children in their communities during these one-day workshops and have made a commitment to serve children in their community. We encourage them in their journey to serve others each month. In addition, we do provide additional training and encouragement through our online Great Commandment Academy.

In February2025, this GO! Ambassador Network served 13,907 orphan children.
