Nairobi Leadership Summit

Nairobi Leadership Summit

May 30, 2024

by GO! Kenya Team

Nairobi, KENYA

We hosted 30+ local ministry leaders who had previously attended one of our Great Commandment Workshops in Nairobi. In addition, five guests accompanied some of these existing GO! Ambassadors to learn more about our efforts to serve orphan children in Kenya. These five guests communicated they would like to join the movement and we are in the process of getting their paperwork on file based on these commitments.

The meeting started early in the morning with a time of worship. The morning included a variety of speakers and concluded with breakout sessions by dividing the attendees into groups for more in-depth discussions.

Our Church Mobilization Director, Isaiah Kimani, also shared with the group regarding our new Great Commandment Academy concept, and how one could register for the Pure Religion Course and other ministry training. Our Kenya team of Cynthia, Ruth and Cecilia were also introduced.

The team shared their mandate and expressed their joy in serving. They also shared their challenges when reaching out to the Ambassadors each month.

The session concluded with a meal with time for bonding and additional discussion. We are looking forward to improved results in Nairobi in the coming days.

Isaiah Kimani recognizes GO! Ambassador at Leadership Summit

“The ambassadors leant from us about the GCW concept afresh. We shall wait for the harvest in the coming months,”shares Isaiah Kimani who leads GO!’s Church Mobilization Initiative in Africa and Asia.

Whenever we do Workshops or Summits, we emphasize the Why, How, and What of serving orphan children. We also spend some time on presenting as to Why this work is important, and how to best accomplish this work. We also touch on the fact that anyone can do something to help children, and outline GO!’s role and what it means to be a GO! Ambassador.

We were honest with these leaders as to why this work is urgent. We also expounded more on what was outstanding about their efforts thus far, and some of our disappointments from our perspective. The discussion groups dove into the opportunities, challenges, and solutions for orphan ministry.

These leaders departed for home encouraged and asking for more meetings like this one! We look forward to improved results in the future.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care through three care initiatives; Home-Based Care, Education, and Nutrition. In 2022, we launched our Church Mobilization Initiative where we are mobilizing the local church to care for orphan children. Last month, we impacted over 14,000 children in Asia (unnamed country), Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within these four initiatives.

Beyond the financial commitment of the workshops, this effort is to be indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting.  Our objective is to engage local churches to expand our GO! network, mobilize the church body to serve orphaned children and to advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel to others.  Through these workshops, we are:

Church Mobilization is our newest initiative launched in February 2022.  We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops where we bring together multiple subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically.  We track the impact of children served through this effort to justify continued investment.

We have co-hosted and facilitated twenty-six workshops in Africa and Asia where we have hosted 4,633 ministry leaders. After holding these workshops, we have been honored to commission 3,325 GO! Ambassadors. GO! Ambassadors are those who have received the call to serve orphan children in their communities during these one-day workshops and have made a commitment to serve children in their community.
