ICS/Child Care Plus Mission Project | Stories of Impact

ICS/Child Care Plus Mission Project is an effort to allow orphan children to attend school regardless of resources. This work occurs at Mukumbi Secondary, Mukumbi Primary School, Lubinga Primary School, Shinda Primary School, and Shilenda Primary School in the North-Western Province of Zambia.
Through this project we provide the children school uniforms, exercise books, school bags, and shoes for their attendance and participation as school. To assist at home, we also provide food packs (cooking oil, salt, maize corn) distributed to these children three times during the school year. These food packs have really brought added value in the life of children in terms of school attendance, participation, and now more orphan children are enrolled in these schools. A couple of stories follow as it relates to this Mission Project.
My Name is Richard Matafyali and I am 19 years old. I started My schooling at Kakaindu Primary School, I did my schooling here till my grade 9. Am now schooling at Mukumbi secondary school about to complete my grade 9. My father abandoned us here in the North-Western Province at early years and now is in the Eastern Province and hasn’t visited us for the past 7 years. My mother passed away 4 years ago due to sickness, and I now live with my grandmother and my mother’s elder sister. I have 3 siblings, all who are younger than me; all my siblings have been distributed among the relatives, as no one relatives could keep us all. Thank you for ICS Child Care Plus, for assisting me in the provision of Food and Education needs.
My name is Jennipher Katambi and I am 13 years of age. I am doing my grade six (6) at Shinda Primary School. I have been a double orphan for over six years. My mother passed away when I was 3 years old. After which I lived with my father who also later passed away when I was at the age of 7, also due to the same sickness. I have lived with different relatives ever since. Despite all this, I have consistently been attending classes in hope of a better future. This is why I thank God for ICS Child Care Plus for all the help that they are giving me which will insure that I have a better and bright future that I have wanted through the support of food, uniform, and school supplies.
My name is Mary Molusoni, I have a dream of becoming a lawyer, am doing grade 9 at Mukumbi Secondary School. I am 18 years old and I lived with my parents in Manyama, where I did my primary school. Unfortunately, my father died when I was in her grade seven. Then I was taken to Mukumbi village to live with my grandmother, who is a subsistence farmer. I am thankful to ICS Child Care Plus for giving me hope to fulfill my dream of becoming a lawyer once am done with my school. Praying that this support will continue till am done
Global Orphan Relief (GO!) in collaboration with World Outreach Team Action (WOTA) has provided a means for 100 orphan children in the North-Western Province to attend school. We will be increasing the number of children we support through this Mission Project to 125 in 2024.
We were blessed to meet Pastor Barry Ilunga of WOTA in January 2007.
ICS (Ignite Christian Services) employs a two-pronged approach to reach both teachers and learners. They do this through helping each to learn their God-given talents, gifts and to apply these to self-identified initiatives, capacity building and education upskilling. All of this is done with a goal of glorifying God through a world view that honors Him through service to others. This curriculum is delivered each week during a half-day session with teachers and learners.
