A Profound Calling to Assist Orphan Children

Today, we are privileged to hear the inspiring testimony of Sister Mousumi, a 41-year-old woman who lives in Asia and who found a profound calling to assist orphaned children.
Mousumi had previously extended help to the impoverished and those living on the streets, but orphaned children had never been recipients of her generosity. However, a compassionate heart always yearned to make a difference in the lives of these children. Working in a tribal school, she found joy in being around children but struggled to identify how she could contribute to the welfare of orphaned kids. Everything changed when she attended the Great Commandment Workshop held in her community earlier this year, which shed light on ways to support orphaned children.
The workshop ignited a spark within Mousumi, filling her with encouragement and excitement. That day she made a firm decision to contribute to the well-being of orphaned children on a monthly basis. Since then, she has made a significant impact by supporting 30 orphaned children in a local church's small children's home.
Her contributions include donating 25 kg of rice, spending quality time with the children, and imparting valuable lessons in reading and writing. Mousumi emphasizes that the workshop enlightened her about the various ways one can support orphaned children beyond financial assistance—through spending time with them, offering motivation, playing, and more. She passionately believes that these seemingly small gestures can bring immense happiness and positive change to their lives, making a significant difference.
Expressing her gratitude for attending the workshop, Mousumi feels doubly blessed to have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of these precious children. She is determined to continue her efforts for their better future, pledging to do everything within her means to ensure their well-being and happiness.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care through three care initiatives; Home-Based Care, Education, and Nutrition, In 2022, we launched our Church Mobilization Initiative where we are mobiizing the local church to care for orphan children. Last month, we impacted 13,860 children in Asia (unnamed country), Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within these four initiatives.
Beyond the financial commitment of the workshops, this effort is to be indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting. Our objective is to engage local churches to expand our GO! network, mobilize the church body to serve orphaned children, and to advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel to others. Through these workshops we are:
Church Mobilization is our newest initiative launched in February 2022. We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops where we bring together multiple subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically. We track the impact of children served through this effort to justify continued investment.
We have co-hosted and facilitated twenty-two workshops in Asia, Kenya, and Zambia that have hosted a total of 4,032 ministry leaders. At the conclusion of these workshops, we have been honored to commission 2,638 GO! Ambassadors. GO! Ambassadors are those who have received the call to serve orphan children in their communities during these one-day workshops and make a commitment to serve children in their community. In November, this GO! Ambassador Network served 13,226 orphan children.
