Girls Soccer at Beliek

Beliek orphanage centre produces female Soccer team to bolster Girl child education campaign as part of the GO! Sponsorship IMPACT in the community.

For the over good five years of nutritional feeding support in Beliek Orphanage centre of South Sudan, the Global Orphan Relief with an implementation from the Christ Mission to the World (CMW), have at least supported over 1000 kids who have benefited directly from nutritional meals that have been offered in terms of porridges, milk, lentils, oil, cereals, maize and local food for the school children in this school.

As an impact grew, the host community developed an initiative of school ownership with an ideology taking an opportunity of free education with an emphasis of promoting girl child education with its all contents. These contents include but not limited to various sports opportunities for the girls studying at this sponsored schools, these sports are like football (soccer) volleyball, basketball and netball. Among these sports, football and volleyball are the most favorite games at Beliek orphanage centre where majority of girls prefer to play them.

While addressing the parents and the host community during the school competition event, the school headmaster Mr Michael Atuer says this is a golden opportunity that has been provided by Almighty God through American people (GO!) with an implementation from Christ Mission to the World (CMW) in order to save people of South Sudan.

Atuer, also says his girls' team is competent enough to face the boys' junior team and that this will encourage other girls to join free education enrollment opportunities especially on the merits of being orphans or children with less parental cares.

At Beliek orphanage centre, over 20 girls with the ages of 6- 16 years have been trained to play soccer and will be made to compete with other neighbouring schools' girls during Christmas Eve celebrations this year.

Global Orphan Relief (GO!) in partnership with Christ Mission to the World (CMW) establishes feeding centres at village schools to provide meals to orphan children and have inspired many orphan children to attend school.

We have served in South Sudan since 2016 and have provided an estimated 1.8 million meals impacting more than 3,200 children in South Sudan. The scale of this initiative has grown by over 7 times since our launch in 2016, and this growth is driven by the near-famine conditions, the influx of refugees from Sudan, and other socio-economic challenges in this country.

In cooperation with partners, Kids for the Kingdom, Christ Mission to the World, and 200 Orphanages, there has been $164,000 invested in four school sites since October 2020. This investment provides for clean water, kitchens, storerooms, and latrines, all which allow for cost-effective distribution of food aid in these communities.
