Meet Awien Anei and Siblings of Light House Orphanage
Meet Awien Anei and Siblings who are Beneficiaries at Light House Orphanage
By Thiik-awet,
Aweil, SOUTH SUDAN
Awien Anei, a thirteen year-old orphaned girl is excelling well at Light House under the sponsorship of Global Orphan Relief in partnership with Christ Mission to the World in South Sudan.
Awien and her two siblings lost their mother in 2017 between the fight of their parents which resulted to the death of their mother from the father. As a result, the three kids couldn’t survive alone in the house as their father was arrested and ended up in the prison.
Survival means became slim and extended family members couldn’t take the responsibility.
Subsequently, the poor kids ended up on the streets, especially the local market of Aweil town where they could beg for their daily bread for survival.
Awien and her siblings got enrolled at the Light House Orphanage in September 2020 and their lives changed completely. She is grateful today that Light House, with support from GO!, has spared their lives and have so far been enjoying life at Light House.
Light House has become their home, along with the 45 homeless kids.
This center was established in July 2020 when the Church’s faithful found 15 kids being abandoned on the streets without being supportive to themselves. These children were brought to the church premises where they got accommodated and survived on church offerings till August 2020 when Global Orphan Relief intervened with feeding and other basic needs for the children. Currently, there over 100 orphaned
kids benefiting under the care of Light House Orphanage with support from GO!.
Our support for Light House Orphanage in Aweil, South Sudan, was reduced in June to food aid for fifty orphan children.

We have served in South Sudan since 2016 and have provided an estimated 1.5 million meals impacting more than 3,200 children in South Sudan. The scale of this initiative has grown by over 7 times since our launch in 2016, and this growth is driven by the near-famine conditions and other socio-economic challenges in this country.
The Light House Orphanage began a relief effort for children living on the streets of Aweil, South Sudan. These children were in desperate need of aid and remain so today.
Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work through local in-country partners that provide oversight and distribution of care.
