Faith's Tree

Faith’s Tree

As we scrambled today as to whether we should postpone our upcoming 5k based on the weather forecast, I was reminded of some pictures I took earlier this month.

This is Faith’s tree that has grown-up in our back yard over the years.  We were blessed to have many from Lynch Cable Resources, the company I worked with at the time, come over to spend the day with us in the summer of 2005 to bring this tree and to get it planted.  Though it was a hard time for our family, that day was quite the blessing. It was a good day.

Well, I cannot remember the last time we were able to enjoy blooms on Faith’s tree.  It seems that never fail, we would experience a late spring snowstorm that would remove what would have been her blooms for as long as I remember.  Not this year though…

Today, is the seventeenth anniversary of her passing.  When I think about that day, I can still get a knot in my stomach.  It was surreal, as we lost something so dear -our Faith.  This experience rocked our family at the time, and what turned out to be our loss was heaven’s gain.

As things so often turnout, God used our pain to do so much.  Today, there is much that I would not have experienced had it not been for our time with Faith.  I am now blessed with friends around the world as we work together to bless orphan children.  We have also been able to gather 250 people who support these children through Global Orphan Relief.  I am blessed, encouraged, and challenged by all of those who have joined us in this cause of “pure religion”.

And the list goes on as to what God has drawn us into since this fateful day in 2005, and my faith as not only endured, but has deepened in so many ways.  Today I remember Faith and I would not trade my limited time with her for the all the pain we experienced.  Like the blooms on this tree, the struggle somehow became beautiful.
