Love Your Neighbor as Yourself
Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
This conversation with Jesus is often described as the Great Commandment. It was Jesus’ summation of what’s important in the Kingdom; to love God and to love people.
It could be argued that our ‘neighbors’ are all around us, but Jesus also uses an illustration to explain that our neighbors are sometimes people that are very different from us and not necessarily nearby.
None of this is easy, but it is simple. Global Orphan Relief is a Great Commandment movement that loves our neighbor by specifically serving orphaned children.
2021 will require us to present these opportunities to serve children with new funding partners in the U.S. as we are projected to serve 2x the number of children this year over 2020. While we continue to leverage economies of scale realized in the latter half of 2020, the dramatic increase in the number of children in our care will require a minimum of 35% increase in resources for provision of care for the children now in our initiatives.
