Faith Kerubo |  August 2021  |  Grade 7

What needs of the child are being addressed through our partnership?  -Faith needed school fees ,food, educational materials, shoes, & school uniforms. She has been able to improve her performance based on our assistance with these items.

How are these needs being met today?  - Currently Faith has her school fees supported by her GO! scholarship, which has enable him to attend school at Fortune Learners Centre. Through our partnership she has also participated in remedial classes. She is also served breakfast and lunch every school day.

How might you describe the child…  -Faith likes Social Studies and mathematics as her favorite subjects, and she is enjoying dancing to gospel tunes in Church. She also participates at school during the pastoral programme. Moses is her favorite bible character because he had courage to face the King of Egypt despite him being a stammerer -through the help of God. She would like to be a journalist in future so that she gets the opportunity to highlight the challenges that orphans like her go through in life.

What's changed for the child because of the FLC/GO! partnership?  - This partnership allowed Faith to attend school and she is now able to make friends which was not possible when she was out of school. Faith now understands the benefits of having friends. She also said that she was afraid of mathematics and Science that are core subjects in her education, but with the help of her teachers at Fortune she has managed to improve to make Mathematics one of favorite subjects. She said that when she joined Fortune her grades were very low, and that she had almost lost all hope for an education, but with the support from Global Orphan Relief keeping her in school, she has improved and now her focus is scoring over 400 marks in the National Exams scheduled for March 2022. This will allow her to transit to Secondary School.

If not for the GO! scholarship I would not be learning now because hunger would have driven me out of school as it did to my brother.

What are the biggest current or future challenges for this child?  -Faith really needs prayer since she is not sure of her future after finishing her primary education through this partnership, She is not sure whether she will join high school due to her family situation. They face many challenges making it very hard for a single-parent to meet their basic needs. She attends church every Sunday and would only love to continue growing in Christ because she believe God is the Savior of her life. The biggest challenge for most of these pupils in upper classes is that they are worried about their secondary education, which Fortune does not provide, and their care givers are not able to educate them after the support they receive at FLC. Faith has challenges at home, and she is currently staying with her sister who was also married out of frustration, She dropped out of school because no one could assist her with school fees, She (Faith’s sister) is now a housewife. Faith’s mom moved to the village because she could not afford urban life. Most of her personal needs are rarely met.

What outcomes will be desired and how will these be measured prior to the child departing our initiative?  Improved health as a result of getting balanced diet and enough food. Emotional and spiritual growth is important as she grows and success will be if she is able to interact and communicate well, handle issues with dignity, as well as her growth in serving Christ. Academic performance, completing primary education, and scoring over 400 marks would indicate a high level of achievement for this student.

Thank you for the support! You have really helped us Please come back and visit soon. Thank you for touching people's heart and continue with the same spirit. God will bless you with more as you continue to give to so many. -Faith
