AWEIL, SOUTH SUDAN
Following the recent flood outbreak in most parts of South Sudan, several health issues have emerged especially at schools and other areas of South Sudan. With emphasis of areas where Global Orphan Relief (GO!) and Christ Mission to the World (CMW) are rendering humanitarian assistance in Northern Bahr el Ghazal in South Sudan, it has reached to an alarming levels where most villages have suffered setbacks of registered health concerns especially in Aweil East.
With support from GO!, Christ Mission to the World has started supplying basic drugs to curve and alleviate worsening health conditions of affected populations especially school pupils. At the Adoor School feeding centre, it is reported that at least 400 cases have been registered so far with water-borne diseases, but they are lacking medical supplies because these villages are a great distance from the state capital and have been cut off by heavy flood since July. For two weeks now, the centres have received their basic medical supplies which include, Anti-malarial drugs, diahorreal drugs, deworming drugs and many more to help prevent further increment of the number of children suffering from these waterborne diseases.
Upon the delivery, the supplies were said to have rescued and boosted moral of beneficiaries at the centres and promising reduction of more cases.
At Lueth-wek, 211 were reportedly registered in September alone while at Beliek, 279 cases of water borne diseases were also registered following heavy setbacks of such cases.
While our emphasis has been providing food to three village schools in the Aweil area of South Sudan, we provided assistance last month to distribute meds to the children that were brought in from Kenya.
——————————-
In the first nine months of this year we have provided an estimated 403,320 meals impacting 3,162 vulnerable children in South Sudan. The scale of this initiative has grown by nearly 2x when compared to 2020 when we served an estimated 209,680 meals to 2,113 vulnerable children. We have served an estimated 1.4 million meals to vulnerable children in South Sudan since 2016, while serving alongside our partner Christ Mission to the World (CMW).
In cooperation with multiple partners (Kids for the Kingdom & Christ Mission to the World), we have invested in these school sites with additional infrastructure over the last 12-months by investing $126,200 during this time for water, kitchens, storerooms, and latrines. We are thankful for these partners that make this work possible. Working together more children will receive meals, with larger portions, and the Kingdom of God will continue to advance in South Sudan!
