August 20, 2019 – Water in South Sudan

I received the following letter from Bishop Garang in South Sudan and talked to him on the phone as well.  Bishop Garang is with Christ Mission to the World -our partner in South Sudan where we feed 851 children. They are in the need of medicines for the children and repairs to the borehole at Beliek that will be funded at $2,600.

Hope you are doing well and that all is well with you. Thank you very much for your concern, continued support for the orphans in South Sudan. May God bless you for your concern and the donors and grant you all abundance, good health and many years for your concern all. The rains are still continuing, and heavy flooding is displacing people, destroying property and many lives. Most of the residents have been forced to live in makeshift structures on the roadsides as can be seen in some of the pictures I have included.

There is great need to assist the affected population with medicines, food and shelter. We also need to pray that there will be no more heavy rains like the one we have experienced recently.

It is my prayer and hope that the Lord will help you to get donors to assist the flood victims so that many lives can be saved from water-borne diseases, starvation and be provided with shelter. May God give you favor and touch the hearts of the people you will be talking to so that they will give generously for the affected population. Attached are the latest pictures of the flooding in Aweil.
