GO! | Capacity 1,440
For those that have been involved with this movement might have heard the term ‘Capacity 1,440’ in the past. If you have had the opportunity to talk with me in depth about the ministry you probably have heard me reference this term. It was really about our vision for the movement, but now it seems that a new outlook is required.
House of Faith Family
In August 2014, our board gathered on a Saturday for a one-day retreat. Many topics were covered as we discussed the history of the ministry, our strengths, and our short-comings -among the other items that were discussed. I had been thinking about what the Father wanted us (GO!) to become prior to our meeting, and I cannot say where it came from, but the number 1,440 kept coming to me.
1,440 was confirmed when talking to a friend earlier in the summer when he shared with me that there are 1,440 minutes in one day. This immediately signified urgency to me. Urgency to care for more children. I had prayed about this leading up to our board retreat and became convinced that the Father wanted us to set out to build the capacity of Global Orphan Relief to serve 1,440 children each month. I was concerned how our board would react to this news since we only served 90 children at the time.
Great dialogue and a fresh exchange of ideas occurred that day. We had come along way as a ministry and it was a wonderful time to reflect on all that God had accomplished for His children. When we were getting close to the end of the day, I decided to share with the board my recent revelation. Even now, when looking back, it really was crazy to suggest that we were going to build our capacity to serve 1,440 children a month!
To my surprise the board unanimously agreed that this was a vision that would be supported. We all agreed that day to somehow grow 16x’s in terms of the number of children we served at the time. Though we did not assign a time frame to this objective, we unofficially thought a five-year time-period was the expectation.
What was thought to be a five-year journey turned out to be five years and 10 months as we served 1,505 vulnerable children in June 2020. Even more monumental is that we are expected to serve 1,966 this month, and we will be set to serve over 2,000 children next month.

I cannot tell you what the future will hold, but I am believing for 10,000 vulnerable children to receive some level of care, and that we would go both deep and wide as we address their needs in the field. Stay tuned to see what God will do with us next……

Global Orphan Relief has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that facilitates distribution of care.
With the latest school launch in Lueth-wek, South Sudan, we are projected to serve 1,966 children this month (July 2020) in DR Congo, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within our Home-based Care, Scholarship, and Nutrition initiatives. We are scheduled to restart efforts in Kenya in August.
