Lueth-wek Orphanage Primary School Gets Permanent Building: Community Overwhelmed With Joys
By Thiik-awet,
AWEIL, South Sudan,
As one of three funded schools by Global Relief Organization (GO), Lueth-wek Orphanage Primary School gets a storeroom and kitchen with concrete building as one of their anticipated dreams within their territories. A group of Parent’s Teachers Association (PTA) have revealed on Friday upon the visit. The school has been begging for clean drinking water, permanent building and latrines for this highly populated school. It has taken them four months before some of their requests came to reality.
Bul Bul Akol and Garang Chan who are managing the PTA of this school had this to say in exchange of seeing the progress of their new building erected.
“We were worried about how school is only with meals which is supporting our school but lacking a physical infrastructure for sheltering from rainy and windy environments. Now that our requests have been positively replied, we can see this is worth millions in our community which we couldn’t have afforded alone without any external support. God is always good.” Garang Chan expresses his happiness during the opening prayers at the centre of the school on Friday.
Meanwhile Bul Bul says, the premise will help from the fears of rain destroying assignments from learners and hope of adding morale to other new joiners. A two-room building is being erected with primary aim of being used as a storeroom and a kitchen is at its roofing stage.
The building is estimated to cost over 18,000 USD with funding from GO! (funding provided by Kids for the Kingdom partnership) and implemented by Christ Mission to the World (CMW). Apart from this two-room building, the arrangements are being made to erect school latrines for better hygiene at school.
Both Lueth-wek, Adoor, and Beliek primary schools have been getting nutritious support with school meals from GO! with its local partner CMW, but none of these schools have had a physical premise built for teaching, permanent kitchen, storage facilities, or shelter. This is the beginning of building phase under GO’s partnership in South Sudan. The support is highly valued by host communities and the direct beneficiaries are sharing testimonies of positive changes in their lives daily.
