Lueth-wek Village School | New Development
We met with Kids for the Kingdom last month to discuss the capital needs with our Christ Mission to the World (CMW) partnership serving in Aweil, South Sudan. Kids for the Kingdom is no stranger to the needs of South Sudan as they were involved with feeding children in the Aweil area previously.
The challenge is that these village schools have very little regarding infrastructure. Just to provide water, kitchens, storage facilities, and latrines at all four locations $148,288 in investment will be required. We were pleased to learn from Kids for the Kingdom on the 29th of October they have committed $80,000 to the partnership in Aweil to feed vulnerable children. Our plan is to finish this phase of development at these four village schools in 2022.
The first building, a kitchen and storeroom, is now going up at the Lueth-wek Village school where a latrine will also be added. This project has also created jobs for the local people and will improve their lives and provide hope for the community at-large.
These additional facilities will allow us to feed more children more efficiently, provide additional security to the food supplies, and build confidence in other potential local area partners that may elect to provide food for the children.
We currently feed 834 vulnerable children at the Lueth-wek Village school, with 346 of this group being orphaned children. We just recently launched this school in July when we expected 235 children, but the school was quickly overrun with so many children needing food. We launched this site as Kids for the Kingdom funded a temporary kitchen in which to prepare the meals.
While there is a church adjacent to this open area, the children meet under the big trees for their daily instruction. Construction of schools will be the final phase of development at our four village locations.
We are so grateful to so many of you that have made this possible for these children, and thank you to Kids for the Kingdom as they provide for much of the capital needs! The children in Lueth-wek are now learning to read and write, learning from the Word of God, seeing the Gospel demonstrated all around them, and receiving nutrition that is needed for their survival.
It is not easy to support children so far away., but be encouraged that so many are being blessed by you! You are changing the very fabric of eternity through your kindness and generosity. Well done!
