In partnership with GHF we started serving in two schools in Jutpani & Siddhi, Nepal, where 220 vulnerable children are provided essential education support. In addition, through this program we minimize the threat of child trafficking for these children. We would like to continue supporting these children, but we need your help. From a child currently in the program:
“I was born in poor family. I am seventeen years old now. At this young age, I have known soreness and happiness of life. Due to lack of education, my parents could not get good employment opportunity and income. They raised us by doing other’s household work. Our economic condition was not good. Due to which I didn’t get environment to study. I had desired to study but I was hopeless that I won’t get opportunity to fulfill it. But in that extreme inadequate situation we got help from Gentle Heart Foundation (GHF). Without knowing each other they came to our village to help us. When they first came to our village, they might have felt sorry to our poor condition. Meanwhile, I saw their love towards small children. On second day they did not come with empty hand, but they brought rice, pulse, salt, oil and warm clothes for winter.
GHF also promised us to provide provision for studying to every children who were uneducated. They did not only promise us but admitted everyone to local school and helped through After School Program. I also got the opportunity to admission in the school. Then after our classes started continuously. Many children got the opportunity for education. We realized that to be an educated economic support is not only sufficient, they need motivation to study. Some of us could not get that from the family. They left their study and ruined their future. They did not understand that we could get the success only after the hard work. They did not endure the small obstacles. Whereas some of them got married, also and some of them started their job. I was only remaining at the last. But I did not give up, I continue my study. My family condition was also not in good. We also struggle to fulfill our basic needs. My parents brought woods from the jungle and sold them to the market. My family was compelled to survive from that income. There are eight members in my family. When I was eight years and studying in class one, there was no food in our home to eat. We used to ask villagers for food. But they refused us to give any because they believe we would not return it back.
Due to poverty, our relatives also did not support us. My mother used to cry in front of me, used to take salt water and went back to her work. When I saw that, I also used to feel bad. I used to think living like this is better if I was not born. At the age of playing and enjoying the life, I suffered a lot because of misery and had seen my family suffering from it. During that situation, Gentle Heart Foundation came us to support us. If GHF was not there for me, I would not be able to study or even I would not be able to know what school is. Because of his support I am now able to reached class 10 successfully. If somebody helps a disabled person to walk, s/he would remember it till her/his last moment of his life. I was also disabled due to lack of education, and in the mean time GHF came to us and provided everything to study. I will never forget their generosity.
I thought my life would end miserable as most around me but I was wrong. Everybody has their own aim and plans. To meet their aim, they need someone to fulfill it. While I was lost on my misery, GHF come alongside with me, not only me but entire village too who were in need and abandoned and with single parent or without parent. I am very happy that I got the support in the situation of pain and trouble, and got support from GHF. To study well I am getting support. I wanted to make my future even better. To make my future better or worst it’s in our hand. Education is like eye to human which is very necessary in our life. I got that light because of GHF, and their care towards me, and also the love of the Lord. Today, GHF is the main reason behind my happiness in my life. Therefore, I would like to express my happiness and gratitude towards Gentle Heart Foundation.” S. Chepang
