Orphans Home of Grace & Education for Orphans
We currently provide support for the Orphans Home of Grace in Kakamega, Kenya, where 36 orphaned children call home.
We do this in several ways. One, we support the caretakers and staff at the home, and two, we support 4 children with educational scholarships so they can attend high school.
We began this support earlier this year (2016). This support was imperative for the children to continue with their education, and for the staff to enjoy a living wage.
Enclosed you can see the thank you letters provided by 3 of the 4 children receiving scholarships from Global Orphan Relief (GO!). <to enlarge picture simply click on image> What a blessing to invest in something so important for these children!
SUMMARY: This program came out of a recent assessment completed in regards to needs at Orphans Home of Grace in Kakamega, Kenya. The board of this Kenyan orphanage had approached Global Orphan Relief for support for their struggling orphanage with no specific request or needs outlined.
With the assistance of a U.S. based ministry we were able to coordinate the completion of an assessment that outlined the needs at the orphanage in detail. The grossly underpaid orphanage staff was something that could not be overlooked.
NEED: In Kenya, it is estimated that there are approximately 3.6 million children aged <18 years who have been orphaned or who are vulnerable of a total population of 46 million. There are many other socio-economic statistics that indicate that the family structure is under much pressure.
BUDGET: In Kenya, based on the current needs at Orphans Home of Grace, GO! plans to invest $5,000 for the remainder of 2016. This funding will continue to support the staff at the orphanage and will allow their 4 high school students to continue with their studies.
