Move to Kalomo
Zambia Update: I spent the afternoon with our new town kids what a great group they are becoming. They are all from 5 different houses at House of Faith brought together into a new family here in Kalomo so they can go to secondary school. Most of these children have never lived in town as they are all from the village. I shared that they are no longer in an Orphanage setting as they have been released back to their relatives and are now staying at a boarding house in town so they can go to school.
This is an incredible opportunity that is being provided to them and they are thankful. They all smiled so big….. I see in their eyes they are in great wonder about town and what it will be like to live here. We don’t want people calling them orphans, they are kids who are schooling in town from the village. Mamma Benita I believe is just the right Mom for this task. They will also be involved in church 4 out of the 7 days of the week as well.
I brought into town the games for older children from House of Faith. We learned today how to play Rummikub a numbers game and they all loved the idea of game time after they have finished their studies. I also gave Mamma Benita a new devotional book they will start reading and studying tonight. They don’t understand load shedding and why we don’t have power some days. That is one thing they never had to be concerned about in the village at the House of Faith.
Michael and I will go to Livingstone tomorrow to pick up a vehicle that has been repaired and buy a stove. They were K500.00 cheaper there at K2350.00. Here in Kalomo they are K3500.00 and the cheaper one I saw for K2850.00 was already sold. Right now they are cooking on charcoal that we brought from the village on the moving truck. Mamma Benita will start enrolling them into school here on Wednesday. Then we will start buying their uniforms. Keep us in your prayers as I know you do. Another busy month has started.
