June 2024 Mission
June 2024 Mission

June 8, 2024
If you have been around me much you might have heard me say “ministry cost money”. In actuality, it is a bit more complex than this, but when doing ministry at scale -this is true.
June is no different as we have set out to care for more than 2,700 orphan children in our three care initiatives; Home-Based Care, Education, and Nutrition and plan to impact another 12,600 children through our Church Mobilization efforts.
As a ministry, God has used us to punch above our weight for many years now. Maybe these results that are beyond anyone’s expectation, are now simply unbelievable… I think this would be natural to question based on my struggles. I remain in the middle of what God is doing with us at GO!, and I sometimes doubt what is happening around me. My unbelief is often an internal struggle though and not something that I share.
As we enter summertime, I am reminded of the annual struggle we experience with funding during this time of year. In the past, I have sometimes reduced the support we send to the field to shore up our financial position here at home, though I have not yet done this in 2024, I had been hoping that this year would be different.
Today I will be sending notices to eleven Field Partners & Teams regarding decreasing support levels for the mission to serve orphan children. For the most part, less funds moving forward will either reduce the number of children we serve, or decrease the aid that they might receive. I can tell you from experience that orphan children already receive less than most children, so this process is uncomfortable for me.
As a matter of transparency, I am sharing this so you know what we will be doing to address the funding shortfalls. In addition to potentially reducing funding to the field, we have added two fundraising events this year, Global Golf Benefit and Aim for Hope Clay Shoot, where we will attempt to address this deficit. These are both inaugural events so it is not likely that we will fund the deficits between now and the end of August with these two events. After considering our funding commitments for June-August, and the total costs of our mission, we expect our deficit to be -$89,000 for these three months.
Our current aid commitments go beyond the funding that we now have available, and will require either additional funding, reducing aid distributed, or some combination thereof. The following is our current financial situation:
The exciting part of this situation is that I will have a front-row seat to see how God will use His people to bless his children. I am so grateful for all that so many of you have already done in the Kingdom through serving children, and I am confident that I will be encouraged by what He does next.
I am reminded of the simple question that my friend Tony often asks me when I am lamenting about the ministry, “Do you have faith?”
I am certain that I do!
So what can you do to help us move forward:
Plan to join us for one or more of our upcoming events in 2024.
Set-up a monthly gift and you can allocate your funds to one of our four initiatives if you like.
Consider a one-time gift.
If you are already a Funding Partner, consider telling a friend or family member about the wonderful work that you are accomplishing through Global Orphan Relief!
Pray for this ministry. Pray for wise decision-making and that the children receive all they need and more!
Consider how you might advance the cause of orphan children through serving in some way.
