Next Level Church Mobilization

Next Level Church Mobilization

April 11, 2023

by Scott Nordstrom

We have been busy over the last 20 months working toward the launch and roll-out of our 4th initiative -Church Mobilization.

Going all the way back to 2006, we knew that this was a direction of interest for us as we worked with local partners to build up our other three care initiatives in Africa and Asia. What of the local church walking out in obedience to the scriptures to serve in their communities? We believe this to be foundational for every church everywhere!

Great Commandment Workshop hosted by Parklands Baptist Church | Nairobi, Kenya | 2022

Through a series of unfortunate events, I ended-up in Nairobi, Kenya, for an unplanned visit of nearly a week in 2019. I was encouraged by what I saw around me but recognized that there was also many orphan children in need.

Shortly after returning home, I began to collaborate with a Minister Isaiah Kimani who lives in Nairobi. I shared this concept to bring a local church together for a one-day workshop to encourage them in the Great Commandment work and to emphasize serving orphan children specifically. We met in person in August 2021 after being grounded by COVID-19 and met with several local area pastors regarding the concept. After a warm reception by many, our plans went into motion for a launch in the future.

In February 2022 we launched our Church Mobilization Initiative in Kenya with three workshops of various sizes, and in May we began to recognize the momentum of the local churches in serving orphan children. God was moving.

After launching this initiative in Zambia in late 2022, and Asia earlier this year, our 830 GO! Ambassadors served an estimated 5,848 orphan children last month. GO! Ambassadors are individuals that commit to working on their own, or corporately, to serve orphaned children at the end of each of our workshops.

This success is what is taking us back to Kenya later this month. We will host five Great Commandment Workshops in Kenya in the first two weeks of May which could double the number of GO! Ambassadors deployed in this initiative, and ultimately, more than double the number of children impacted.

A Place of Hope Orphanage | Nairobi, Kenya

There are huge advantages of deploying the local people to serve these children in their communities. We believe that this is a beautiful picture of God working in relationship to benefit his children.

In addition to conducting four mission project assessments while in Kenya at Ulutya Scholarship program, Fortune Learners’ Centre, Place of Hope Orphanage, & JOY Education Centre. We also will be deploying a local team to Western Kenya, Mombasa, and Nairobi to facilitate these five workshops over the course of 22-days. While some funds have been secured, we need additional resources for our 2023 Bridge of Hope Mission. Our costs are as follows:

Please consider being part of this team by praying for the mission, and or financially supporting these costs.
