ICS/ Child Care Plus Ministry Project Launch

ICS/ Child Care Plus project is simply a service to orphans’ that has been created to provide inwards emotional satisfaction and to allow them to attend school regardless of resources. We thank the Lord for this connection with Global Orphan Relief to bring assistance to orphans/neglected children in our society.

I would like to report and confirm that 100 orphans from Mukumbi Secondary (20), Mukumbi Primary School (20), Lubinga Primary School (20), Shinda Primary school (20) and Shilenda Primary School (20) have been put on this program for 2023. In January we began receiving school uniforms, exercise books, school bags, shoes and food packs (cooking oil, salt, maize corn) for distribution to these children.

Nearly 30% of the children now on the program are those who had no opportunity in the past to enroll in school due to lack of support by their guardians. We noticed that for some children it was their first time to own and where a pair of shoes. This support for these children brought a lot of jubilant moments by both children and adults in villages around Kalumbila district. More children are now being brought by their guardians to enroll for school, but we can only support 100 for now.

This is a great challenge as two schools from the area, and their community leaders, have come to His Royal Highness, Senior Chief Mukumbi Ibaloli to complain that orphans in their communities/schools have been by passed-by and not considered for this ministry. We do plan to visit these (2) school communities to explain that we can only do this much for now based on resources available.

Food packs have really brought added value in the life of children in terms of school attendance, participation, and now more are enrolled in these schools. Below are pictures of the children being enrolled in school earlier this year and receiving their uniforms, shoes, and food packages.

Global Orphan Relief (GO!) in collaboration with World Outreach Team Action (WOTA) has provided a means for 100 orphan children in the North-Western Province to attend school.

ICS (Ignite Christian Services) employs a two-pronged approach to reach both teachers and learners.  They do this through helping each to learn their God-given talents, gifts and to apply these to self-identified initiatives, capacity building and education upskilling.  All of this is done with a goal of glorifying God through a world view that honors Him through service to others.  This curriculum is delivered each week during a half-day session with teachers and learners.

About the author: Pastor Barry Ilunga is a Zambian/African Missions strategist, mobilizer and visionary leader. He is the Founder & President of WOTA and is an ordained by the Pentecostal Assemblies of God General Conference.

Pastor Barry has raised support for the translation of Jesus Film into Lala language for the Lala people. His work has also involved helping feed and support refugees in the Meheba settlement. He is now actively mobilizing all God’s people to active Christian service through his ministry to the glory of God and is part of our Church Mobilization Initiative in Zambia as a member of our leadership team there. Pastor Barry is also an initiator of missionary sending from Zambia to North Africa and beyond.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work through local in-country partners that provide oversight and distribution of care.
