Pure Religion: The Why & How of Caring for Orphan Children

by Scott Nordstrom

Now available on Amazon Here

I have received good feedback since the release of my first book earlier this year. Check it out for a read and let me know what you think…

You will find stories form my experiences within the book that I hope will somehow encourage you. This is an excerpt from the Mission section of the book:

…Faith or Presumption? This is a question that we grapple with regularly. While I understand straight-line budgeting that takes place at many churches, we do not operate within the same type of constraints. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of challenges, but we can raise funding in ways that is not the norm in a church.

I love each of our board members dearly and am so encouraged by them (usually). They are all cautious and wise. If I do not value their council then there is no reason for a board. We could have a couple of people that always agree with me and be done, but I am afraid that GO! would also be “done” without this wise group to guide the steps of the ministry. I am thankful for each board member as they contribute their time and energy to this movement.

However, I always want to do more… If we know of a need, my thought is to fill it. My mindset is that if people know about a need, they will meet it. Lastly, the good Lord loves His children. If not via Global Orphan Relief, then God will come to the rescue in another way for these children. I cannot help but consider the following scripture when deciding whether or not we should help those in need:

If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. -James 4:17 (NIV)

This should cause anyone who makes resource delivery decisions to at least pause. I would encourage you to take it a step further… Bow your head and pray. Let us let God sort it out with or without our help. He is all-knowing and He may just be inviting you into a situation to be His hands and feet.

To date, we have peaked at serving 3,938 vulnerable children and believe that God has given us a vision to Feed 5,000, which would include children in all of our initiatives. We have been encouraged to see God growing our ministry to serve His precious children, and in the last five years we have grown from serving just 322 children.
