Where is Home?

This is a question that is easily answered for most of us. Within the context of our ministry, this bodes several responses.

If a child is an orphan, this does not mean that the child should be uprooted from where they are now to be placed in an orphanage. Many children enjoy the love and support of extended family that has stepped in when brothers, sisters, sons, or daughters have passed away. We have even found that when these extended families are provided some level of financial assistance when needed, they are more than willing and able to provide a place of comfort and safety for these children if given the opportunity. We are in support of using “Extended” care for these children so they can stay with extended family.

If an orphan child cannot be cared for by extended family, we advocate for these children to live nearby these relatives if possible. Global Orphan Relief places high importance on children maintaining family and cultural ties that will outlast their stay at any orphanage. We do not support relocating children to a great distance that would cause the family ties to be frayed or severed in any way.

Home is where our Father provides a family for an orphan child. This is a supernatural process for each child that creates outcomes that include the richness of faith, hope, and love.

God is inviting us into this story as he comes to the rescue for many children with no mom or dad. He is asking you to consider being his hands and feet to accomplish his purposes! You can join us at Global Orphan Relief and we can journey together as we pray, volunteer, serve in the field, and financially support the least of these -the orphan child.

Our first home at the House of Faith Orphanage in Mapampi, Zambia, under construction in 2007, and where we received our first child, Sibajane Mudenda, in March 2008.
