Story of Winfred Mutete and Jacinta Mumbua

Ulutya, Kenya

by Apostle Benson Musyimi, Arising Christian Ministries

Winfred and Jacinta are twins born on 2nd June 2004 to Mr. & Mrs. Muia Kioko. After the death of their mother life changed drastically and another chapter of suffering was opened.

Before the ailing mother’s demise, she froze almost all of the assets that the family had accumilated over the years. She left the entire family to live under the mercies of neighbors and well-wishers upon her passing. Since they were the last children to be born into the family, these children were left without an education.

Winfred and Jacinta have shown a great passion in education when they began to travel ten kilometers to attend school. Then at the end of each day when school concluded, they would make the long ten kilometers back to where they were staying. The other challenge at this time, the sisters were often sent home without actually being able to attend school because their family was unable to pay the required school fees.

Since they live in a house without tap water and other resources, the girls also make sure that the family has enough water by trekking to find this commodity each day after school. Recently, the drought has hit most parts of Kenya and it was their duty to make sure they find water, firewood, and cook for their father who toils every day to bring food home.

Providing these two girls a scholarship so they can attend a local school is the best relief all the world could offer to them. They both study at Ulutya Secondary school and have two years to complete their secondary education. They will then await to join either a college or university.

They are doing good in their studies, and we are trusting God to see them progressing in life to bring tranquility in their home and rest to their father. Mr. Muia Kioko chose not to remarry again to focus on raising his twin daughters.

According to him, many nights passed without sleep not knowing what to do for the furtherance of his daughters education. The scholarships have comforted him and brought peace to his heart. He thanks Global Orphan Relief and the entire leadership for sacrificing their resources which is of great help to many people who are like him.

Much is still needed for these girls, but for now they thank God for the provision which has kept them in school.

We provide aid through our Education Initiative to 322 orphan children in Kenya and Zambia.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care.

As of October 2022, we served 6,559 vulnerable children in Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia. We provide this aid through our Field Partners & our GO! Ambassador networks through our Home-Based Care, Education, Nutrition & Church Mobilization Initiatives.

We support 20 orphan children the village of Ulutya in Kenya. Ulutya is east of Nairobi by 136 kilometers. These children are served through our Education Initiative, which allows for these children to continue with their education, and they receive food at school as well.

We have worked with Apostle Benson Musyimi of Arising Christian Ministries since October 2021 when we partnered to support the children living at A Place of Hope Orphanage. Since then, we have grown our partnership to provide scholarships in Ulutya Village, and nutritional support to a school in Lucky Summer Estate. Apostle Benson was also part of our GO! Kenya team who launched our Church Mobilization effort in Mombasa and Nairobi in February 2022.
